Went last night and thoroughly enjoyed it, they were very good. Played for two hours and did a great set, which covered plenty of stuff from the Prince discography. I was really pleased that it wasn't all just the major hits too, with some nice stuff thrown in that non fans probably wouldn't know.

They even played Guitar from Planet Earth, which they did a great job on. Really wasn't expecting anything so new to be in there. Absolutely loved the version of Sign O The Times they did, very funky.

There was a very small crowd, but it was also a very small venue, so it wasn't too bad. The crowd took a while to get going, but by the end everyone was partying like it was 1999.

I can't remember the complete set list, or the right order but off the top of my head, here's some of what they did.

Let's Go Crazy
I Wanna Be Your Lover
Dirty Mind
Head
Darling Nikki
Sexy MF
Controversy
I Feel For You
How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore
Guitar
Sign O The Times
Gett Off
1999
I Could Never Take The PLace Of Your Man
Little Red Corvette
Alphabet Street
New Position
U Got The Look
Girls And Boys
Kiss
Endorphinmachine, (started with the intro to Shhh)
Nothing Compares 2 U
When Doves Cry
And of course, Purple Rain

I don't see how any Prince fan could fail to be entertained unless they were expecting to see Prince himself. We met up with Syble and her hubby who both enjoyed it too. It was actually much better than I expected and I'd definitely go to see them again. Would probably pay a little more than the £7 each we paid for last night too.

I'd certainly have them for a big party. Not sure what my Prince hating friends would think of them though, it might be a small crowd! biggrin

Thanks for these leads. I know what you mean about those who cant understand what the deal is with Prince, what planet are they on (certainly not Planet Earth, haha!!)
I was getting really excited about the possibility of having them play at my party, almost like the real thing, how cool is that. Then I suddenly realised I was the only one who likes Prince out of my friends. Will I be partying on my own? sad mmmm.... not so cool. Anyway, I'm gona contact them.

I might just have to privately post an invite to a select few, just to gather some fans to raise an atmosphere. Not saying my friends are dull, but really, where were they when P played 21 nights in London, huh? huh?

*EDIT* Was laughing at Carocool, not you Claire. I know all too well the feeling of having to scrape around to find people to go with. I took my 60 year old mum to one show at the O2. I also met up with several random orgers which was great. Especially as one of them turned out to be my perfect woman and we now live together! biggrin

Crumbs -I cant believe that. Wow, I never saw this as a dating possibility!
I wish I could turn back the clock, it makes perfect sense... duh

Frankly, would rather go on my own - then no one can cramp my style. So if i
want to run to Indigo queue or front of stage, or jump walls, dodge security
(all of which I did), no one dragged me down. Haha.. nutty

They were fab, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I have to say I was scouting for my 40th bash. I so want them to play. the female vocalist was very good, they did a very good cover of nothing compares 2 u, and I liked head' I think they did it very well indeed, they didnt choose 'easy' or safe songs and such a good set list.

Prince himself aka Jimmy was very good if a little stiff, but then when youre used to seeing the real thing funking on down like hes taking a stroll in the park maybe we all forget just how talented he really is to make it all seem do easy.

Jimmy actually did the old screaming high pitched bits pretty well I sure cant sing like that!! shame about his purple coat though Id have to advise him to stick to the newer Prince look he did later on much more fetching.

As for a party -ITS MY PARTY ITS MY PARTY- IF YOU DIDNT COME TO PARTY DONT BOTHER KNOCKIN ON MY DOOR! my fiends will have to put up with a purple party. We'll play some old school stuff from the 80s too but mostly Prince. And 'Purple Rain' (the band) would make anyone dance and enjoy themselves, they were a pretty good band of musicians!

Where were you claire? we looked out for you - as in tried to guess which one was you!! haha.

It so cool that englishgent met his girlfriend at the 02 shows.

Im glad we met up, its nice to have someone else with you to 'coo coo' over prince music with!!

PM me anytime you guys all wanna meet up for something like this again. biggrin

We'd come again, you guys were great!! I couldnt dance though as too tired from chemo but loved it!!!

You should post more often in here where you're playing - how about somewhere more SouthEast. We travelled from SE London to see you and englishgent from hertfordshire! I think thats how you spell it!! lol

We could make a regular org meetup once a month or something - now that would be cool.

Great setlist by the way, something for everyone!! biggrin

Thanks, really glad you all enjoyed it so much!

I usually advertise gigs in the Fan Gathering section, but seems like this is the place! Will definitely keep you all posted of any shows in London/SE..most of them seem to be Midlands/up north but we're working on it!
