And yet, surprisingly, we have one of the lowest tax rates in Europe. It's the stealth taxes that get you though.

Don't think it's going to be 'extra special', the prices are fairly normal for concerts. You might want to take anything wolfy says with a pinch of salt (no offence intended wolfy, but you do talk an awful lot of shite).

The London concerts were probably cheaper because it was residency, it costs a lot to haul your kit around a continent every few days.

simple

if prince had done a one off in london the prices would have been comparable im sure

fuck all to do with extra special or surprises

however it wants to be the case that show length is greater than SOME of the london shows
sometimes it snows in april....
sometimes i feel so bad.....

He tested the water in London to see if he was still relevant in the UK, dangling the funky carrot in front of us. Now he's whetted our appetite he knows he's got us by the proverbial bollox and can charge what he wants.

I've no ticket by the way, I have issues with this gold circle shite. Back in the day the people who were willing to queue all day got their rightful place at the front of the show, nowadays it's all about who can afford it.

I queued for about 13 hours in 1995 at the Manchester GMex and got to the very front, slap bang in the middle. The wait was crap but well worth it. I even got suspended from school as I wagged that day off but didn't keep my plans quiet from the teachers on the days leading up to it. Bit stupid that in hindsight.

I think Prince has simply misjudged his audience.

Maybe 21 nights in London swelled his ego a bit too much. Last year had 3 key ingredients. Firstly; It was the first European shows for 5 years. Secondly, he clearly advertised it was the only European dates, so it wasn't just catering for the UK. Lastly, the price. Fantastic value, which pulled in huge volumes of casual fans locally.

I think Prince would fill Croke Park at £31.21. Equally, he would fill The Point at £80. But not Croke Park at £80. He's simply not got that pulling power and I think greed had won the battle over common sense.

Prince could pull off a European Stadium tour at rock bottom prices, but if he wants to charge big bucks, he's got to stick to a lot smaller venues.

I like free speech too, I wasn't for a moment suggesting that you keep your mouth shut.

Talk as much shite as you like, it's part of the entertainment.

i think you misjudge his pulling power a bit sm....he sold 400000 tickets for his london shows....not many artists would be able to do that...yes they were great value but you still got to sell them...he WILL sell out croke park...no doubts about that....he is one of the greats....people will pay to see him....no matter how many years its been since his last big hit...

I was shocked he sold so many nights at the O2, but I wasn't counting on so many casuals to come out of the woodwork. But I knew 12 friends who attended as the casual fan and they all said they were going because it was so cheap....AND....that it wasn't a stadium.

Time will tell, but I think P will not sell out at Croke Park. It seems less than half full now and if you try for tickets on ticket master, you are often being offered the same seats for days on end.

Not a good sign.

You can add to that that because tix were cheap a lot of folks went to see Prince a few times. I went twice from Holland. I went the second time because i knew the venue was small enough to have a great experience even un upper tier. (and because flights with Ryanair cost around 1 euro)

I'll have to look it up but i think total costs to see prince in the O2 and the indigo, and the flights from Holland to London vv made up to about the same sum only the tickets in Dublin are (so without the travels). So the O2 gig provided much better value for money..

At first I thought it cost more as Prince has to travel farther. But then I realised that only applied to me. America is closer to Ireland than England so I too would like to know why it's costing more?

you must remember, croke park holds 80,000 SEATED...standing will add to even more people at the gig,so it'll be over 80,000

IRISHFAN

I honestly dont believe they are too expensive. As I have said before the London tickets were 31.21 sterling - that worked out a fair bit more in euros - over 50 if I can recall. I honestly think the bigger issue is that its on a Monday night, I know plenty of people who were planning on seeing him for the first time, and would have gone this time round if it was on a weekend night.....

i always liked prince but when i saw him at the 02 last summer the guy blew me away.
so when the ireland show was announced a group of us decided to get tickets.
were flying over and with hotel and the tickets it will be expensive but well worth the money.
good thing we got a new contract at work to pay for it cool
