US$100 per Aftershow ticket for Members - Is this an insult?

Ok, it's obviously brilliant news that more (aftershow) gigs have been added, and us members are supposed to be the benefitting and humbly honoured audience, but I have to say I'm simply lost for words now seeing the cost of the aftershow tickets just announced for Paris and Rotterdam.

Any chance NPGMC would email us to let us know the new gigs were happening? No, that would cost "money" (well, actually, no it wouldn't...). Any chance they could tell us what we're paying $100 for, what the gig involves? No, that would mean they actually "care" about us Members.

This is not me whining. In fact the majority of the posts to this site complaining of NPGMC and ticket organization are simply speaking the truth. The NPGMC is becoming a bit of a scam, and it's hard not to feel members aren't being taken for a ride. Of our 4 exclusive CDs this year, it's looking likely only 1 was in fact so. Of the free aftershows, that was a passing fad. Of the "Premium" service to paid up members, well "Premium" if you don't mind snotty one line email replies from apathetic NPGMC workers (their job is to reply - it's what they're paid to do: most of us would be fired for writing such disinterested responses to clients with questions).

I don't know. Communication with fans is certainly not an NPGMC strong point. I find myself thinking the whole thing sits quite uneasily with Prince speaking and singing to us about relgious communality and oneness. When his gestures of sharing to the fans (the principle of the NPGMC, and indeed the idea of free aftershows to members) turn into corporate-style mercantile profiteering, it makes me quite sad. Prince can harp on about the ills of the music industry, but with this recent announcement of $100 aftershow tickets to paid up Members, I think I prefer the business tactics of Bill Gates. And that really isn't saying much.

I had a feeling that all the free stuff wouldn't last long. Club members have been getting a lot on this tour. Pre-show concerts at soundchecks, 3 hour concerts, and 60-90 minute aftershows.

I had a feeling weeks ago that either the soundchecks would be ended or the free aftershows would end.

I really, really, really would wanna go to this shows. I guess they will be a mix of an aftershow/club gig and a normal concert...but I'ma poor student and cannot afford to miss school, and pay another $100 + travel costs.

...maybe, just maybe, Prince will release some mp3s of this European tour. I think that's no too unlikely...you know, tehy need something to make us sign up for the next year. What would be better than to end this year with a big bang?

Prince played a 90 minute aftershow in Copenhagen just now.
Free for members, 50 euros for guests.

Do you know how many NPGMC members were at the Copenhagen show?

Is anybody keeping track of the aftershows? How many has he done in Europe? I know in the U.S. he played approximately 20 regular shows and about 8 aftershows.

This is an intimate late performance for members only. Believe me, it will be better than any show that is directed at the general public. And you'd pay $100 for that wouldn't ya? So be grateful! This is a rare opportunity. Wish I was in Europe!

Hmmm.
Difference gets even clearer.
Why do we have to pay so much?
Do we get 3+ hour aftershow^H^H^H^Hconcerts?
(don't think so)
What else has he thought of to justify the price?
I really want to know.

BTW: About the Copenhagen aftershow: where was it? How was it? Setlist? Need more info...

It was supposed to be 'typically free'.
And why $100 here yet free elsewhere?
Even when you compare the $50 guest price for Copenhagen with 'our' $100 member AND guest price you'll see a difference.

I was about to start a new thread to ask if a NPGMC membership was worth it. I don't have it now but was planning to get it. BUt this sums it all up for me.
I don't mind getting up early in the morning to get tickets.
CD's? There available in stores or somewhere else.
So if there are any reasons why I SHOULD join pleas let me know.

Reason to join: you can spend hours thinking and complaining about it and starting to think worse and worse about Prince's bussiness (and finally buying other music)

Looking at the size of the venue, the better market (more fan^Hms, more time before the actual presale..) I guess it'll be $100 as well for Nighttown.
Or maybe more?

Hmmm, consider yourselves lucky that you got ANYTHING free. I don't recall any free shows in the US. We sometimes pay $20 just to see him walk through a friggin' club, so I really have no sympathy for you. Don't go if it's too expensive, this ain't rocket science.

It wasn't luck or "free" pre se, it was included in the original ticket price and conditions set by npgmc that members got access to soundchecks and afterpartys/shows

"Members can bring one guest with their laminate that can line up with them. However, while the member typically gets in free, the guest must pay the cover charge. Afterparties will b open 2 the public as well."
