Last time I saw Prince play outdoors was the RDS in 92.
It was a lot like sticking a portable TV at the back of your garden and pretending you can see fine smile

Do you think it would be a suitable venue to take my kids to see Prince - I should have taken them to london but didn't as I thought they were too young - they will be 9 and 10 in June this year?
U know there ain't no other

Yes, I'd like to take my little boy, he'll be 5!

Does anyone know what the venue / seating is like, I'd like to be really close to the stage rather than VIP seats miles away. I guess he'll have his stage? Or not? I'm thinking lower seating 307 - 330 would be good confused

I mean, do you have to pay the VIP tickets, if so, how do you get the VIP tickets.

I doubt it. Tickets for the pitch area are usually cheaper than the stands, but they're also usually the first to sell out. So those who get closest to the stage are those who can run fastest when they open the gates.

I would imagine that the VIP tickets will be for the corporate boxes, that's the normal set up for croker.

nod Definitely a suitable venue for kids. I don't know about getting close to the stage though. Of course, we don't know what the set up will be yet, but usually the whole pitch area is open (apart from an enclosed raised area for the wheelchair bound), so it can be a bit of a melee up the front near the stage, it's probably not somewhere you'd want to be with a five year old. But the lower seating would be good (even the 301/701 and 336/736 sections to the sides are pretty good. The stands are fairly steep, and a bit daunting when you first see them, but no different to stands in any other stadium. Any concert I've been to in Croke Park there've been plently of people with kids, all having a great time. It's a very smoothly run operation there these days and the facilities are pretty good - no queueing for hours for the toilets.

Oh that's great AsylumUtopia, thanks for the info! I'll feel better about going ahead now, I guess I'll try and go for the lower tiers, good news about the toilets too - these things are important! Especially with a 5 year old in tow lol I think he's going to love it, and it just might be one of the last chances we get to see a complete 'Greatest Hits' concert ever, so my boy can say he's seen the best! biggrin

I'm sure he'll still do his hits but probably not in one package like this.

Thanks again cool

Next question: anyone know what's the best way to get to Dublin from London, or should I say CHEAPEST? Fly? What sort of price should we pay?

A few people over at Housequake have reported getting plane tickets arriving Monday, returning Tuesday with Ryanair for £10 stg incl taxes!

Ryanair fly from Stansted, Gatwick and Luton. Aer Lingus and BMI fly from Heathrow, and CityJet fly from London City.
