Glastonbury 2008 - petition for Prince!

Hey guys.

Maybe we should petition for Prince to do Glastonbury next year. Just add a "GLASTONBURY 2008 - PRINCE PLEASE!!" below and we'll see what we can do to persuade Mr Eavis...

Mr Eavis has been after Prince performing there for years. It's not him that needs persuading.

I agree.

Prince has been making a point of taking care of his fans for a few years now (good seats for NPGMC in 02, decent price seats with good views almost everywhere this year), so I hope he doesn't play somewhere we have to fight for a good view, take a dump in a bucket, and live in mud.

Glastonbury is the best music festival in the world end of story. - However I dont think it is P's style to play a festival so it will probably never happen.

Sorry but I vote no for two reasons. 1 - it's not Prince. 2 - it's not me.

Not his scene maybe but to call it "beneath him" smacks of elitism.

I didn't mean it in that way in the slightest, and I'm slightly bemused at the 'get over yourself' comment confused. I just can't see Prince playing a festival like Glastonbury - doesn't seem his 'thing' somehow.

Mind you, didn't quite envisage Shirley Bassey doing the mudfest either...

I agree. I can't see Prince doing it. No particular reason. I just wouldn't have thought it was his "thing" at all.

Prince wouldn't be able to have control at Glastonbury. People would be able to take photos, videos etc freely. He wouldn't be able to control all those people standing in a field the way he can in an arena.

Hey if he gave away free mind controlling drugs instead of CD's as the crowd entered do you think it would work? lol

Prince would be fantastic at Glastonbury, either in the final slot on the Sunday night, or even on Saturday night. I'd imagine the Glastonbury crowds would love Prince there as a headliner...it's a great atmosphere and he'd tear the place up. Without a doubt.

Yep, I agree too. And a proportion of the crowd attracted by Glastonbury will throw mud, not glowsticks.

Its too grimey I think...

OK, this was supposed to be a petition. If you're not interested, don't post on this topic.

For the record here's my resopnse to some of the nonsense I've just read on here.

1. Prince DOES do festivals. Check your gig history guys. I'm thinking around the millennium for a start, and several massive outdoor shows through the years.

2. Since when has anything been Prince's "thing"?

3. What the f**k has mud got to do with it? Prince can cosy up all he like backstage the same way plenty of stars who've played there ahave.

4. You're right, it's not Eavis we have to persuade, but if he had an up-to-date petition it would certainly be cause for consideration., If Eavis doesn;t apporach Prince, Princ certainbly isn't gonna approach Glastonbury.

5. Finaly - If it ever did happen, I'll look forward to seeing you lot round campfires, smoking a joint and listening to the distant sound of Prince on the Pyramid stage, toasting that humble pie.

Some of you lot really make me despair sometimes. Call yourself fans. Argueing about which song he did or didn't play, complaining about what Prince "owes" you. Debating what colour his f**king shoes were last night?

So you're a little bitter and resentful now Prince has left our fair shores once more? Well I'm not, I had a great time this summer, and sue me if I choose not to have a negative attitude regarding potential future Prince shows.

Can't a guy just come on here and have a bit of hope?

Well said, after I read the title of your post I knew you'd have opposition. People feel they own Prince I think... kinda freaky... I think it would be amazing if he did it and part of history and like I said before if James Brown can do it then so can he! Plus he wouldn't have to go in the mud like you said. It would be on BBC tv too, that would be an added bonus to all fans if it ever happened smile
