Time to get things sorted for the pre-show party. Time peeps how does 4.30 sound. Anyone know of a good Public House where the drinks are at northern prices? Hit me with the ideas.

I'm heading up to the final show on 21st September on my own and crashing at the Holiday Inn Express...stayed there on Saturday, its spitting distance from the arena but a bit pricey. Are you going to the Aftershow to??

Hmmm...this interesting!! I did it over the phone the same way I did on Saturday just gone, and it cost £189...no single room rate!! I did think this a bit steep, but I'm a bit lazy when it comes to accomodation. And with the hotel being so close its ideal to walk to after the concert for a quick freshen up before the Aftershow. We walked back in 15 mins, and by the time we got back to the Indigo (12:30) the queue had disappeared.

If you find out about this cheaper rate though, let me know...I'll be dropping Mr Holiday Inn a line then to find out why the hell I'm paying through the nose!

Dave go onto the Hliday Inn website, home page click on leisure breaks, find the hotel on the planner. You will see the room rate is £59. If you get it cheaper you can get me a beer mate. smile)))

Oh, by the way...if anyone needs somewhere to crash for the night on the 21st September they don't do single room rate at the Holiday Inn so I have a double all booked and I'm heading to the show on my own....I get the bed though and you get the sofa! lol

Only Sheila E look-a-likes need to apply! haha wink

As I mentioned earlier though, if we're all gonna be in the hotel bar, bring plenty of loot...if I recall a vodka and mixer was about £8...mind you, that was for a 50ml shot of vodka which is effectively a double.

Are there any nearby bars we could decamp to which may be more reasonable? Or somewhere on route to the O2?

Well, let me see: I save 80£ (two nights), which means I can afford two more tix, so 80 - 62,42 = ... I cant find my calculator but a cold beer should be fine smile

The area leading to the arena from the hotel has a lovely park to walk through...about halfway through the park is a little row of old houses and onthe end is a traditional looking pub called The Pilot Inn. We stopped there for a drink on the way and it was much more reasonably priced and was great sitting out in the sun! Could be a better venue for a drink before the show.

Could you give me some pointers of where to look on the Holiday Inn webiste....£59 for a room sounds alot better than the £189 I'm currently paying!! I presume this is at the Holiday Inn Express just down from the arena as well??? I've clicked on the "Leisure Breaks" box but can't seem to get much further.

No worries...had another look around and found the right section and it was indeed £59. Found the reservation line up and said that I'd found it alot cheaper online and they changed it right over for me...the only difference is I had to pay for the room now and I've lost the opportunity of cancelling the reservation!! Cheeky sods never gave me that option when I phoned to book the other night though...money grabbing gits!! lol
