I am really convinced, having witnessed all the miscommunication problems in the last couple of days that the whole "Laminates Only" thing is misunderstanding. I am sure that the something like this happened; NPG Music Club says something like, it is for members and guests only, they will have laminates. That is how you can tell them apart. So I reckon that the clubs assumed everyone had laminates.

I know that is a longshot for a guess but I wouldn't be surprised at all. At the Marquee last night we were told four different things from four different people. One was prepaid tickets only. That was referring to something else though. Someone told us that you would be allowed in if you had a laminate and your guest had the correct wristband from that night show. Then someone told us (literally a minute later) that the member had to have a laminate and the wristband and the guest had to have a wrist band, then too really confuse things we were told it was laminates only. I am telling you they never knew wether they were coming or going. It must be difficult for them though, because obviously alot of people try to get in and give them information that may help the case. One guy turned up and claimed to be member. When asked for his laminated he said he didn't have one because he didn't go the concerts (any of them) but thought that being a member was all it took. He even offered to show his passport as proof. Proof of what?

Well the highlight of everything that happened had to be seeing Vic Reeves going into the Mayfair Bar. Ok I'm kidding before you lynch me.

As far as the afterparties go it has always been the member and guest, the guest has to have a wrist band of that night, they change colour each night and the member MUST have a laminate from that nights show(this changes every night too) However, we got in on just showing the laminate on Friday night but I have read that non members were let in on Saturday night but had to pay £30.
So, you and your guest should have no problem, just get there as soon as you can cos' the doormen tend to panic when they see 100's of Prince fams heading at speed towards there club...

Have a good one and whoop it up youall!

What fiasco ? Mayfair ? Alright but don't blame Prince for that. It was the club that didn't kept his promise to Prince.

The 2nd and 3rd night were excellent organised ! Every fan + guest could get in without any hassle !

Not true. They were only admitting Laminate holders and not guests at one stage at the Embassy rooms Friday night. Ridicuous length of a queue to get in as well. If they are going to have 400 NPG presale tickets or whather the amount it was they should make sure they pick a venue that can hold that amount of people.

Needs to be clear communication between NPG and the clubs. Hope to God that rubbish doesnt happen in Dublin. At least i will have the home advantage though!

Going to concerts should not be a sport where "homefield advantage" is needed.

When a person pays a couple of hundred dollars (including club membership) they should be treated like vip's and have no worries for the evening. They should not be forced to wait in line for hours and hours and forced to leave the venue early if they want to be certain that they will get into an aftershow.

Agreed 100%. I missed out on the afterparty on the Friday night and wasnt able to get presale tickets for the Saturday night because of the NPG ticket screwup. I Still enjoyed both shows tremendously though and came home to Dublin fully satisfied.

However, in London it was reasonably easy to get to whatever venue you wanted to with the tube...It ain't going to be so easy in Dublin im afraid. The Point is a good 1/2 hr walk from any possible venue. Anyone with a car will be at an advantage to get in the club first. I will be surprised if the problems that where in London do not repeat themselves in Dublin. I dont have a lot of faith in MCD (the promoters) and any of the Dublin clubs to organise this properly. But i really hope they do...

Each night I left the concert AFTER the end and went straight to the afterparty venue.

On all three occasions I had no problem getting in with a laminate and my guest with a wrist band. OK, so the first night I was in the wrong bloody venue but it didn't matter as they sold alcohol ! biggrin

Didn't seem to be a problem at the Marquee. The guy in front of me had the orange laminate and green wristband and was turned away but they checked my laminate and my girlfriend's wrist band and waved us straight through.

Perhaps I just drive waaay too quickly ? biggrin

Gav,

Did they charge your guest at the door or was he/she admitted for free?

Attended Friday night concert which was great. Didn't get involved with any pre ticket nonsence outside the gig, just stood in line and waited my turn. I ended up in the centre, six rows back, great view. Afterparty was a different story, got cab from gig to club (£20), was around halfway up the Q, however, by the time I got to the front of the Q it was laminates only and I was told I had to leave my boyfriend outside. As if I was going to go into the club alone. The bouncers didn't have a clue what was going on and told us to take it up with the npgmc to obtain a refund??? Club only held 400, and the manager had his own agenda on who was to get in, and none of them had laminates or wrist bands. Ended up going back to hotel a bit disappointed as had travelled from Glasgow and was really looking forward to an afterparty. Going to the Point on Thursday, and really looking forward to it, more so than London, so I hope it's going to be a good one and all these problems will be ironed out by then.
