My friends think I am mad...

My friends think I'm weird for going a 3rd time to see Prince.

Is anyone else getting this reaction from non-Prince fans?

They can't understand it at all.

I had a friends who thought I was nuts for going 3 times (now up to 7!!) but she went to see him on the 1st (corporate box tickets) and now she can see what all the fuss is about, said it was the best live experience she's ever had.

The doubters just need to see the light!

Ignore people that think you're nuts - I've been 8 times and am going 3 more times. You can't let Prince shows pass you by - it'll all be over before you know it.

Yep, but don't care, I don't always understand why the people in question like what they do. Its nice to talk to people who do like him though, because when I tell some people you just get the 'oh really' blank face and I think 'well that bit of Prince info was wasted on you' smile

Ha, I know exactly what you mean. My name is 67Tbird and I sometimes listen to the music of Prince.

This reminds me of something shakespeare used to say, " I like em fat, I like em proud, You gotta have a mutha for me, now turn your big tudor ass around this way and let me work on those laces baby".No, that's not right. I think it was somthing like "the eyes of the ignorant are more learned than there ears" . But he's dead right int he!

I said to my Mum I was seeing Prince on the 12-13+aftershows. She looked so shocked and said "He's bloody rubbish, what do you want to do that for." You got to laugh! Also a fella I sometimes have to work with proclaimed "Who, Prince? Is he still around? He's not had a single out in ages" I said I knew nothing of his personal life and I didn't know if he was dating singles or married women recently? Blank looks ensued, ah well.

Im sure Im doing something this week.....Oh-yeah, baby sitter is sorted, tickets are sorted, hotel is sorted. My wife of 13 years has now found a new top, and she likes it so far, it could be a first people. Car is fuelled up and the tyre pressure just right. I got the tunes for the trip so I can hit cruse and then hit shuffle on a gold mine of Led Zep, Peter Green, Mr Hendrix "so I can sing 90mph baby is the speed I drive" and point to the speedo, the Foo's. I got Groove Armada singing hot thing baby I know all the words. Gershwin. The Beatle's and James Brown, RIP. I'd like to say, When its time for us to leave this mortal coil, we can all rest easy because we now know for sure were all going to a Funky Place, what Im trying to say is you got to go on up to get down, thanks James! So, putting it another way, too many tunes for the 3.5 hours needed to get down to the O2. What more do I need?.....Water, Food and?.....O'yeah, the PERSONIFICATION OF A PARTY!!

Listen to the music, but like Shakespeare said, listen with your ears not your eyes! Somebody else said "transcend the physical".

Shit, look at the time....I got work to do, shush you lot stop making me read you! Also, speeding is bad don't do it, or a least be careful you don't need to go on up to get down just yet, just get to the O2!

I don't think you're mad for going a 3rd time.
I'm jealous.

I went twice, and unfortunately don't have the cash to go again sad

BUT IF I could I would have gone to four or five...maybe more....

Yep.

I've been to a fair few... and everyone thinks I'm nuts.

Just this lunch break we were talking about how we coped with quitting smoking and people were saying they took up crafts etc then someone pointed out I have taken up Prince. What am I going to do post 21st??? I'm worried.

I've quit smoking in order to afford Prince. Now when people give me 'the look' for going to see him 3 times, I can smugly respond that, actually, it's my reward for giving up smoking.

That wipes the smile off their judgemental faces... innocent

Get yourself some 'Princeorette' gum. Chew it while listening to live recordings and you'll be fine.

wink

I believe there are also Princeorette patches.

I'm not that much of a fan but I've seen him 4 times so far (3 main and 1 aftershow) and I'm going to see him 3 more times (1 main and two aftershows - hopefuly he'll be at the two aftershows). My friends think I'm mad too. lol

Exactly the same question I get asked. Then when I see them with the smug look on their non-Prince fan faces as they ask "well did you hear any different songs this time?".
They should learn not to ask as I then torture them by going through the setlist while their eyes glaze over, in your face people for missing out on the best live performer around.

Not only will I struggle to come to terms with the summer of Prince being over on the 22nd but by the looks of things I'll have no friends left either! Oh well at least I'll have Prince memories to keep me company in the nuthouse.
I love you Baby, you know the rest...
