I hate non Fans at concerts Well maybe not hate but they do piss me off with their lack of respect for the artist who is performing by talking talking talking!
Okay during the loud rock/funky numbers I can't hear them but why oh why do people insist on having a conversation (about whether to go to Dorset for the weekend) while Prince is performing a quiet ballad (Somewhere Here On Earth). I saw red, turned round and politely but firmly asked "are you intending on talking through every song tonight or just the ones you don't know?". I was glared at but the guy's girlfriend then asked him"what did he say" and he replied "he told me to shut up". And they did! Just a moan but it is just so rude! 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything. | |

Despite my fears that I'd be surrounded by cardboard cut-outs, I was quite lucky in so far as I was surrounded by fans, or at least people who were out for a good old Princely time. I had people in front of me AND behind me talking loudly through 'Somewhere Here On Earth' as well as people in my row coming and going - ruined the song for me; didnt know who go mad at first.
Also some drunk non-fan man staring at the stage and asking over and over to his friends "whats that symbol? whats that symbol?". I mean, come on!  "U have just given birth 2 a 7 pound Bambi..." SBE 9Feb14 | |

The first concert I went on my own and the people in my row were boring farts !! A couple to the left of me and three people on the right of me who spent 50% of the time on their seats as if they were in a cinema.
The woman on the left of me asked me whether if Prince was close to finishing as her and her boyfriend turned up at 8.45 thinking he had been on stage from 6pm. I said to her he was only into his 2nd song after which she sat down on her seat and started texting on her phone for the next 20mins !!! God it makes me mad !!  [Edited 8/16/07 10:06am] | |

Some people are really unbeleivable. On the 10th Aug I was in block D3 row B (only 2 rows in that block). There were two couples in ROW A. The couple directly in front of me arrived late after P had started, watched a couple of songs showing no appreciation, then went to the bar and came back with a pint each, glared at me for dancing and left before even halfway through the concert. The couple to the left of them were a bloke who never moved off his seat and a girl who was so drunk she kept falling over when trying to dance. They must have known someone in authority as later on they were invited into the stage suite by a guy in a black suit. At this point the girl was so drunk her boyfriend had to put her shoes back on for her. It is scandalous that people with so little interest in P end up with front row seats. I would be extremely surprised if they had paid for them. Corporate guests no doubt! [Edited 8/16/07 14:41pm] | |

PRINCE DESERVES SOME RESPECT !!! these people are ignorant fools. I'm British but sometimes to me it feels British people have no interest in funk music at all. They just want to be in the 'it' crowd. They are a waste of space !

I was at Tuesday's concert and although Prince was brilliant, the attitude of the audience was a disappointment. During the slow numbers, there was a rush to go out and buy drinks or go to the toilet. Fortunately the people around me were really interested, and you could tell they knew the words and what was coming next.
I hate to say this, but the fans at Justin Timberlake concert at the O2 just over a month ago were more respectful. They were younger, more girly, but they had come to see Justin, not to listen to some music in the background. I'm beginning to think it's the O2 venue that encourages a casual attitude (although I said it was a good venue when I got back from seeing JT, I'm changing my mind). I realise that I'm a snob, because I can't cope with people eating popcorn next to me at the cinema. But really, you go to a Prince concert to listen to music and dance, not to eat your dinner or have a beer shampoo when people push past you. After Purple Rain, the guy next to me said, 'I'm worried about you, you haven't been dancing for 5 minutes'. Well that's what I went to the concert for! [Edited 8/16/07 11:26am] | |

I haven't sat next to a single proper fan at all yet and it's worrying me! One time I had Simply Red fans next to me talking through Satisfied, Fuck Off and watch Mick poxy Hucknall!! Tues had girl next to me that got off her seat for Kiss and spent more time staring at us in amazement.

Well I don’t think it’s between fans and non-fans but more between fans (die-hard and causal) and idiots.
The idiots (and you can clearly separate them from the casual fans) are those annoying people who choose not to watch entire extended chunks of the show through either attending their phone, buying pints and/or food. I really can't get over this, not because Prince deserves respect (last time I chekced most humans deserve so) but because you really are losing something. Firstly, your missing one the greatest live acts of the 20th/21st century by doing things you could of done pre-show. And secondly, I’m perplexed by how one rationalises spending 30 pounds on a ticket and then deciding not to watch what you paid to watch. That is just too decadent for my tastes. Although its not all bad, for instance, I was D1 on Tues and met some lovely Prince fans (Mainly other couples). They appear to make it to the floor more often than the idiots. i totally agree with what you guys are saying but dont take it out on ture fans! I went on my own on tuesday and felt a bit self concious singing etc, the girl behind made some comment about "him in front, just standing there", needless to say that didnt help. still a cracking show which i managed to get into after losing some inhabitions. | |

One night I had some girls behind me chatting real loud through Sometimes It Snows in April about some nonsense. It's not like me but I couldn't help it. I had to turn to them and tell them that "you don't talk through Sometimes it Snows in April so shut up"
Then on the 7th during How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore and Condition of The Heart I had a group of guys spilling their beer everywhere and gabbing on loudly about someone at work who they found really annoying. Ironic really. I agree with you jacktaylor. I thought my friend was really bored but it turned out she was frozen in awe as it was the first time she saw Prince live and was shocked at how she was having to fight back bursting into tears. It's the generally morose looking people though who look like they're only there because they've won the ticket and had nothing better to do. Then they look at you like you're crazy for standing up and having a good time. Like 'that's not how to behave at a concert'. Most of the people around me on the 14th were sat down for the first half but good on Prince he had them up and boogying after that. I think like the performer feeding off of the energy of the audience, the audience feeds of each other too so I find more energy when everyone's having a good time.. And as you say Scuzzy if your sat next to other fans you're going to have a good time. I hope I'm next to some good party people on the 28th. [Edited 8/16/07 12:24pm] | |

I guess it's 2 b expected with 21 gigs & the promotional
succes that it's been..a substantial amount of tickets has been sold 2 twats.. on Aug 10 I was E1 row A next 2 a couple with a non moving boyfriend who just stood there with his arms folded.. just being boring until 'Crazy' 
On the 11th I had shit seats, but dancing people..'t was a complete diffirent experience... 
I've actually once been 2 a Prince gig were me & my friend were the only ones dancing in our block..& we were asked 2 sit down..the horror.

That gutted me and I agree with the sentiment that the o2 arena encourages ignorant oiks to get pissed and spoil the enjoyment. If drinks weren't so readily available, people wouldn't be getting up all the time to go to the loo. Me and the wife saw some of whats been said on the 3rd in block 104
Before the show had even started, there was 4 people on the row behind to the left of us about 6 seats along complaining that they thought Prince was on at 7:30 and they still had an hr wait, they swiftly disappeared and re-appeared about 2mins before Prince came on but just sat there for the whole night and none of them looked like they wanted to be there. Sat right by the side of me and the wife was another young couple, and all they did was sit there and not speak or do anything all night, and then left before Prince had even finished. I dont mind people who dont dance as some people are not comfortable dancing, hell im not the best dancer but i will bust the odd move but there was some very sour faced looking people in our block.
Along with every 2 minutes someone wanting to get past with drinks. Only plus point was behind us was 5 people who were quite obviously hardcore prince fans and livened the block up a hell of alot. Didnt spoil the night as I had the time of my life and the wifes first experience was amazing, that much infact that it was her idea to go back for the final night Life It Aint Real Funky, Unless Its Got That Pop! | |

I have to say that I didn't really notice anyone around me when we went as it was just me and Prince in the arena that night No, we were very lucky and everyone was up on their feet, singing and dancing.
I did notice a LOT of people walking round, going to get drinks etc - I was absolutely appalled! What pisses me off is that if these people bought a £7 cinema ticket, would they be getting up and down, going to the loo, getting drinks through the film? No they bloody well wouldn't, so why do it when you've spent £32?! 
It also pisses me off that there were probably some poor prince fan sat at home unable to get tickets because some twat won them at work or in a competetion or just wanted to be able to say that they've seen Prince even though the only album they own of his is an old tape of purple rain. Wankers. :steps off soapbox: I'm not stopping. I haven't even taken my coat off

The ones that are worse are the ones on to much alcohol. I had to sit behind 4 men drunk and paying no attention at all to the concert. Most of the time they were hugging each other in that manly way, or going out buying more alcohol. Even using their mobile phones to tell others were they were.
I have said this before, give me Hamersmith Apollo, 21 nights. Far better then any of the concerts here at the O2 im afraid | |
