For the hardcore - Prince also performed the full version of Prince and the Band tonight

It was during the old school funk section of the night somewhere after Shhh. He rapped each verse of the jam over an insanely funky beat and then for each turnaround yelled to the crowd "What's my name?", to which the crowd screamed "Prince!". Naturally, what they didn't know, bless them, is that the rest of the short chorus goes "...and the band", which I'm sure the hardcore all chimed in with. I certainly did. Excellent surprise for those looking for something unusal and novel. The performance of Prince and the Band lasted around 5 minutes. Thank you, Prince.

Yes, you are quite right. I believe it was also after Musicology and before Pass The Peas. All I meant to say was that I believe this was the first performance of Prince and the Band, thus far, from the London shows. And it was a welcome surprise.

Yes, that is what Anji is talking about.

The song is basically a rap that has been performed on occasions since 2002 live (but never released). He is posting that it was the song's first performance during the London residency.

So the Saturday 4 August setlist appears to be:

1.Let's Go crazy
2.Take Me With you
3.Guitar
4.Shhh
5.Musicology
6.Prince And The Band
7.Pass The Peas
8.Play That Funky Music
9.Sexy Dancer / Le Freak
10. I Feel For You
11. Controversy
12. What A Wonderful World
13. Cream
14. U Got The Look
15. If I Was Your Girlfriend
16. Pink Cashmere
17. Lolita
18. Black Sweat
19. Kiss
20. Purple Rain

21. Little Red Corvette
22. Raspberry Beret
23. Sometimes It Snows In April

24. Crazy
25. Nothing Compares 2 U
ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

It was GREAT to hear 'Prince and the Band'!!! biggrin cool

A real treat for hardcore fans, particularly as he did all 3 verses of it.

I was really hyped to hear it. I loved that whole 'Musicology' jam last night. It kicked some major arse!!!

That's not very nice is it?! (tut, tut) wink

It isn't exactly pointless. It is letting people know that Prince performed an unreleased song last night called 'Prince and the Band'.

I was very excited to hear it.

She did and the night before she played a new version of Sexy MF....very funky. There was another recorded jam/song played with bits of Pop Life and Gett Off.

the best version is still from the celebration thumbs up!

thanks 4 reporting what u have heard..from one hardcore 2 another nod

and as 4 what rashida was playing..if only prince and the band and this so called new version of sexy mf were on PE then it would have bumped my ratings 4 it..

i remember there was a funky instrumental version of kiss that was played during the 1st celebration
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
