It was not
John Goodman, just because it was an middle aged over-weight white guy. Not everthing in life is pre-planned.

Ummmm yea, i know not everything in life is pre planned, like you!

Im not the one who said it was John Goodman, I know 3 shows were pre planned, I know set lists were pre planned, I know gear is pre planned and I also know for a FACT that the people who get up on stage are PRE PLANNED because my wife was one of them at a previous show. You get a wrist band, way before the show starts, Princes people walk around and pick you out of the early crowd.

So, maybe it was pre planned.... try to think of that aspect of things.
and all middle aged men arent over weight or going through a mid life crisis.
lol

At this show, it wasn't Prince's people that handed out the wrist bands to get on stage. The Target Center ushers/security gave you a green wrist band only if you were on the front row.

We were right nearby "John Goodman". I own every season of Roseanne, and I wish it was him...sadly, it was not.

Picture of the NPG Church Fans given out on the floor at Target Center

The story behind the NPG church-style fans:

I was inspired to “do something” at the next opportunity after hearing the churched-up version of Satisfied at a few of the 3121 shows in Las Vegas. Prince’s pimped-out preacher persona is always one of the highlights of his performances for me.

So, after snagging my Target Center ticket, I sprang into action a few weeks before the show, came up with a concept, and found a printer. After some e-mail back and forth, we had a deal. The shipment arrived at my house the Tuesday before the show, less than two weeks from concept to delivery. An extra suitcase for Minneapolis and I was good to go.

I assumed that Satisfied would be on the Target Center setlist. My objective was to add to the atmosphere when Morris Hayes broke into the gospel-tinged organ intro and see if the church fans caught Prince’s attention.

In keeping with the 07/07/07 theme, the plan was to get enough fans into the Target Center to blanket the first 7 rows. About 20 minutes before the show started, mission accomplished -- thanks to Carolyn, Nicole, Toni and Priana.

Needless to say, our distribution scheme caught the attention of Target Center security and someone from Prince’s organization. They were concerned that the content might be offensive and/or in furtherance of some commercial enterprise. We explained that we were simply fans doing what fans do. With fans. Among fans. (There’s a pun in there somewhere). They took one backstage. Uh-oh.

My night was made when, after Morris's intro to Satisfied, Prince pimp-walked his way up to the microphone and told the audience to take out their church fans.

Thanks CJBabyDaddy!! My wife and I thought they were hilarious when two ladies in the fourth row handed them to us. They are my favorite memento from the concert. I just assumed Prince's camp had produced them since he talked about them during the show...congrats on getting a shout-out.

Wow...I'm just now coming off of Cloud 7 from the most amazing weekend of all time.

Our third row center seats were so amazingly close to the stage that I could swear he smiled at me a few times.

Hey yoohoo42, you were right behind me at the Target Center! I was in Row 2 seat 3! I'm the one that caught the black towel he threw out! Everytime I look at it, I still can't believe I have it! I've gone to many Prince concerts & have always sat in 1st & 2nd row. I have to agree with you, I do think these were the best seats I've ever had! I hope Prince didn't see my reaction when I caught the towel! If so, he was probably like eek who is that crazy girl going nuts over a silly towel eek lol lol
