Friday Feb 23rd report

[i]Hello, I arrived at 3121 at 9:00, received my ticket quickly and walked in. I was in Vegas for work so i went solo to the concert. I walk up to the front of the stage and waited. I talked to a few friendly people and before I knew it The DJ Rashada was playing. I had to get a closer look at her so I walked up the stairs and took a peek, she is hot. She played a mixture of old school R & B jams, Prince and hip hop. I am a DJ myself and would say she had pretty good mixing skills. They played concert footage from Musicology, DMSR the crowed was pumped. They played the UK hall of fame intro and it kind of took the crowd back down. In my opinion they should skip the intro, it is a real buzz kill, and we all know how great Prince is already.

I was there early and was standing in the same sport for about an hour. I was getting nudged a bit by this big girl just as the concert started. I asked her nicely to stop pushing but I finally gave in and let her have her way. I still had a great spot on the left side of the venue.

The Concert started with Purple Rain, I thought this was an odd choice because usually he plays something up tempo to start off a show. He then went played 3121. This song got the crowd going. The concert seemed kind of short. I would say it was about 90 minute’s total. A highlight for me was Does Not Compute; I think it came off well considering the type of song it is. Overall he played an equal number of hits, rarities and new songs. A good mix for a hardcore fan like myself. I got the impression that the rest of the audience liked the performance as well. I enjoyed the performance but this was not my favorite show I have ever seen. I think the main problem was that i was tired and had to get up the next day at 7:00 for sales meetings but I’m glad I got to see him in Vegas, Who know how long it will last.

On a side note, Just before the concert started young women asked if she could use my ticket because she had to go to the bathroom and she had lost her's. You have to have your ticket and a wrist band to get back in. I did not give it up but it got me thinking. If you were to take a wrist band and a ticket from someone inside and gave it to someone outside they could get in free, they do not check the bands very closely, and it seems like a big whole in the system.
