3121 Club Las Vegas Report Opening Night (11/10 &11/11)..it was AWESOME!!

"Thanks Prince for your stellar
performance on opening night!"

Prince gave a stellar performance clapping in Vegas on Friday and Saturday nights (11/10 and 11/11) at the opening of Club 3121 Las Vegas. He brought the house down! He was very happy and in good spirits and you could tell that came from his strong belief in his faith. He connected very well with his audience and told them several times that he loved them. He also asked us if we were ok and how we were feeling. During part of his performance, Prince made his way through the crowd by the VIP tables, shaking hands with some of the attendees. He also threw a couple of towels out to the audience as excited fans caught them. I won't give a setlist since I'm sure it's been posted already, but Prince definitely put on a fantastic performance on both nights. All I have to say is if you get a chance to see Prince and his band in Vegas.....GO! I got back from Vegas to NYC about 8:32pm on Sunday night, and I have to say I had a GREAAATTT TIIMMME at Club 3121 Las Vegas!

Now when you walk throughout the Rio, you see pictures of Prince all around the casino. I was also lucky to get a shaker or maraka (?sp) from Prince when he was at the front of the stage and gave them out, I believe that is what you call it, it's like a mini-maraka but shaped like 5 pound weights, but very light-weight with shaker beads inside that you shake to music. I do believe Prince only handed out 3 of these-one to me and to 2 other fans, which will be another souvenir to add to my Prince collection. woot! Also, Prince gave me and some other fans a "high five!" highfive ( excited )<--our reaction.... which was so cool.. lol It was nice though, because he was the one that reached out to the fans to do that. Now as far as what songs Prince sang during the show, I wouldn't be able to list all the songs so I'll leave it up to someone else who was there who wants to post that information. I'll tell you this though, he sang "Joy in Repetition" with one of the twinz, who sang it very well with him and also did a like a skit during the song. He also sang "7" and gave an explanation on the meaning of that song. He also did a very nice rendition of "Johnny B. Good" an "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", snippets of "Song of the Heart", "Shh", "Get on the Boat" and more (check setlists of others here that attended the show as well). During much of his performance, . Also. loved the purple confetti that fell from the ceiling!! Globe lights on the club ceiling are nice too!

Also members who were part of the former NPG club, were treated very nice by the Club 3121 and Rio staff, the staff handed out bottles of water to the people waiting on line outside the club on Friday, but whether you were a former npg member or not, Prince's staff was very courteous to everyone.

Some of us had our pictures taken from Sam while waiting on line on Friday and Saturday. Sam is part of Prince's staff, and conversated with people waiting on line, then asked if he could take our pictures; according to Sam, Prince wanted pictures taken of the people on line, but we had no idea what would be done with these pictures, until we were inside the club..and lo and behold!!!.because later on Friday and Saturday nights inside of Club 3121, the pictures Sam had taken of some of the people waiting on line on both nights, were shown on the 12 giant screens! (Woo Hoo!). The group I was with had our pictures shown first, on both nights! When we saw our pictures displayed, of course we were surprised and cheered! It was so much fun and nice to be part of Prince's 3121 Club Las Vegas on opening night!!(yay! dancing jig lol).

As a matter of fact, when they first let us into the club, not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but when DJ Rashida opened the show, they displayed on the 12 giant screens, (6 on each side of the club) several clips of Soul Train with the Soul Train dancers (showed lots of big afros fro, afro puffs, bell bottoms, hot pants and polyester shirts and pants. lol. .I loved and appreciated every minute of it!!). Also shown were video clips of Beyonce, Jimi Hendrix, Josephine Baker, clips from the movie "Black Orpheus" (a black brazilian love-tragedy movie)and other clips of black entertainers and people in general, from the early 30s through the late 80s. It took you down memory lane--sort of like a celebration of black entertainers, music and dance--a music history lesson before the show, Musicology 101, so to speak wink. Then later they added clips of other entertainers like John Travolta dancing in "Saturday Night Fever"dancing jig<-love that movie), clips of the Beastie boys and clips from other concerts and movies. To sum it up, it was a real appreciation for music and dance and how it moves the soul.

They also had clips of some of Prince's concert performances and showed his movies "Under the Cherry Moon" and "Graffiti Bridge", playing simultaneously, while music from DJ Rashida's booth was playing...it was reeaalll nice. biggrin

After the show ended, about 2 hours later, some of the band members exited the club during different times of the evening, and we had a chance to say a few words to Morris Hayes, Cora and Josh. I also got to chat with the Twinz who are very nice and yes they have stepped up their dancing and singing and projected lots of energy towards the audience, I complimented them on their performance.

So if you ever get the oppporutunity to travel to Vegas to see Prince and his band perform at Club 3121 Las Vegas, then you should go because it is definitely worth the trip!!...Vegas baby!!!Woo Hoo!!

P.S. It was nice to see Soulchica, Revelationsunshine, the 2 Prince fans from Italy again (sorry forgot your names)Also, it was nice meeting Jseven and Housequake, Sistafate and her mom and Sbacon1999<--you were so funny, thanks for the laughs!

Peace!

Great report. I really hope that Prince is going to be in Vegas All Star weekend. I have a couple of friends who have a room at the Wynn that weekend and they said that I could crash with them.

Was the show long enough? The set list looks kind of short.

That was a great report! Thanks for the juicy details and covering what other people may have left out. I remember you from the NPG club and I was wondering when would you post your report. Your reports are always fun to read. biggrin

Hey thanks, I didn't want to ramble on too long and was being careful not to give too much away. The concert on Friday was about 2 hours and 15 minutes and on Saturday it ended a little sooner. I believe we were suppose to get an encore Saturday, but from what I've heard, not too sure if it's true, but someone said that DJ Rashida started playing the club music a little too early when Prince went off the stage the first time, so that may have been the reason the show was shorter on Saturday. Other than that, I'd say the crowd was hyped up on both nights. Before Prince came on, DJ Rashida had the music going and the crowd pumped. People were dancing their buns off anticipating the show. Everyone's experience will be different of course, but for me and my friends, we had a great time! Prince just kept telling the audience how much he loved them, he was really in a great mood, seemed very content, and of course you can tell that all had to do with his strong belief in his faith. He really was very connected to his audience both nights giving "high fives" and he did walk around the room near the VIP tables and shook hands with a few people. I have to say the Twinz stepped up their dancing and singing, they did pretty well and was full of energy.

Only one thing, (don't mean to give you a debbie-downer) but just be careful of people walking around claiming they are part of Prince's staff just to get up front. There was one very, loud, obnoxious woman, 6 foot blond female, sweaty biker type, with a broad build who pushed and shoved her way through the front, (I'll just call her Big Mama, not because of her weight, but because of her broad build and her height) knocking everyone out of her way, stating she was part of Prince's staff and that "he wanted his staff up front and that we had to move, and complained that she "couldn't believe they wouldn't move" so she could get up front. Well, guess what? She lied, she wasn't part of his staff at all, but used a fake badge that just plainly stated "STAFF", but nothing on that badge confirmed she was part of Prince's Rio or NPG staff. She had no idea that Prince's photographer for the night was standing right in front of me, and she was leaning all over him and me with her entire body weight, nearly crushing my shoulder, and nearly knocking him into the pit below the stage, and annoyed 4 other people around her. Welllll...after a few minutes of "some fairly kind words from me" (I'll keep it nice lol sorry but somehow my caribbean roots surfaced, and I was looking like this-->mad .. lol at that moment, and that is not a good thing when that happens because I'm usually cool, but it sure comes in handy at times lol ) but after that, she had no choice but to move back, in other words "I handled it...gracefully" lol

Unfortunately, she came back and stood about 1 or 2 people in back of us, by this time she was full of liquor, bumping into everyone and hollered and screamed out several times "I love you Prince, I love you man!!" annoying some people in the audience, I'm sure Prince heard her but did the right thing and ignored her. What can I say, you will always find at least one jack*** in the crowd and she sure fit the bill. If you are going to drink, please do it responsibly and do everyone a favor and not overdo it to the point where it ruins someone else's good time. We didn't spend our money to come there just to see some drunk fools make idiots out of themselves, other than that enjoy the show because it's worth every penny.

Peace!

About 2 hours 15 minutes on Friday, but a little shorter on Saturday. Other people posted the set lists. I'm not good at posting those, I was having so much fun at the show and can't remember all that was played, but both shows were great!
