It would've been nice to have a tad bit more warning about this.

Prince and the Time sounds good to me. As long as Jerome is there.

Anyone know if The Time has updated/changed their set-list this year. Seemed to be the same routines for quite a while there.

I think the high prices just go to show you that Vegas is no longer a great cheap get away. Now, it's a very expensive, commercial place & it thinks it's more special than it really is.

And as usual $121.03 adds up to that same old number "7".
So...how's everybody doing? smile

Anyone think this might be the tour package too?

Prince said old friends, and I know T17 pretty much outright said that GCS will be touring with prince this summer. It was on HQ in reply to someone slagging off Larry Graham, he said you better get over it because GCS will be touring with prince this summer.

Soooo...I'm wondering if this could be the tour package this summer, but with Prince headlining over The Time.

What's The Time's current line-up? I mean should this really be called "Morris Day with backing band singing Time songs"?

Lolita could so easily have been a Time song. can see them doing that.

on another note, with all the 3121 number games, i'm just glad the album wasn't 31 minutes 21 seconds!

I saw Larry and GCS open on the Jam of the Year tour and I thought they were great. Larry is a fantastic bass player and especially those Sly & The Family Stone songs are great to hear.

However, it did get a bit annoying hearing Prince play Sly covers all the time just so Larry could get his moment in the spotlight. I wouldn't want to see it returning to that format, that's been done.

I have never seen The Time and I would love to even if they did the same old songs and routines!

I am not going to this show but I am very interested in what happens and to what level Prince joins in. I never thought I'd see the day when Prince allowed The Time to be above him on the bill! Surly that shows how he has mellowed...

Who knows what the next tour format will be, but if he does have one or 2 opening acts that usually means he will have less time performing his own material - even more so than usual if Tamar is guesting alongside him. The great thing about the ONA tour was no support acts so more Prince, plus without another guitarist he had to do all the work himself, which was amazing to watch.

From what I have seen of the Musicology tour, he was freed from guitar duties by the Rev. Scott and could spend a lot of the time working the crowd instead rather than pure performance, which was not as good as the ONA tour.

My fear for the next tour is that he will spend less and less time purely performing his own material - perhaps it is simply that the huge amount of Musicology concerts took it out of him and now he's finding ways of performing without actually having to do as much himself? Only a theory.

I wonder if Sheila E and W&L will show up this tour at all if The Time is touring with him...they are definitely "old friends" and he's been hanging out with them some lately.

Why does everybody hate The Time all of the sudden? I love The Time, and I would be super-excited to see them with Prince. Remember how hot the concerts were back in the day when The Time used to open for Prince? As far as Larry Graham goes, I respect him as an artist, but I think he is kind of boring. But, I guess he's not going anywhere soon.

The Time are just a nostalgia act now really.

I don't think the tired 80's dance routines, preening in the mirror and sqwarking along to 'The Bird' really translates well contemporarily.

Then you haven't seen The Time lately. It translates just fine. I'm not a big fan of them, but they were a lot of fun as an opening act.
