Prince tribute band in Reykjavik, Iceland June 7 and 8 2006 - Updated thread

I just received an orgnote about this concert so I decided to give the Org some info about it... American singer Seth Sharp will be playing with his Prince tribute band at a place in Reykjavik, Iceland called Gaukur á Stöng on June 7 (Prince's 48th birthday cool ) and 8 2006.... I saw the band play in August last year and it was a great show.... (the setlist from last year's show is here: http://www.prince.org/msg/2/156375)... So if anyone here will be in Iceland when the concerts are, I recommend checking out this show (and let me know, so I can organise a meet-up wink).... And here's the flyer, if anyone's interested biggrin ....

P.S. If U want to read more about Seth and see some clips from last year's concert, this is Seth's homepage: http://www.sethsharp.com

Well I can't really compare because I haven't seen the real thing yet(hopefully later this year if the ticket prices go down lol )..... However last year's concert was really good... The setlist was great and the band was well rehearsed... Many people were crying when Seth and the band played "Purple Rain"... I don't know if it's the same band as last year, but I'm pretty sure it will be a fun night out cool Judging by last year's setlist, Seth will probably be playing stuff that Prince won't play in concert anymore because of the lyrics.... Stuff like "Head", "Sister", "Come" and "Sexy MF" biggrin

Co-sign nod .... That would be a dream come true for me if the purple fella ever played here.... Judging by the response of the crowd at the Tribute Concert last year, I'm pretty sure Prince would get a warm welcome over here if he decided to play in Reykjavík....

Back by popular demand! New York actor/singer Seth Sharp returns 2 Gaukurinn, on June 7 and 8, with the hottest show. Featuring: Let's Go Crazy, Darling Nikki, Cream, Purple Rain, and many more.

Hey, The Prince Tribute Concert is back!

Seth and the Prince Tribute Band will perform Prince's most popular songs to date, including songs from Prince's newest number one album. Prince fans will be treated to a fantastic show with lights, costumes and crazy dancing. Performing with Seth will be the idol-finalist Guðbjörg Elísa who has also been studying jazz singing with Seth.

Tickets are on sale at midi.is (561-6434) and at Skifan Records for the Prince Tribute Concert. The concert will be held at Gaukur á Stöng on June 7 and 8. The house will open at 9 and the show will begin at 10 pm.

Seth has always been a huge fan of Prince. Seth was a guest at the party in New York that Prince threw for himself when he got his name back in the late 90s. Seth came face to face with the Purple One and decided to make a show out of his songs. When Seth did the Prince Tribute concert last August, Prince fans came from all over to see this show. Seth and the band had no idea how many people were Prince fans. "WOW! This was f***king awesome!" - that was a review about the tribute concert from a Prince fan on Prince.org, the website for Prince fans. This concert is not just for Prince fans either. Many people who came to the last show out of curiosity had an amazing time just because of the fun and excitement in the show and the talent of the singers and musicians. Not to mention the sexy dancer.

Playing in the band are:
þorgils björgvinsson, úr sniglabandinu / gítar
sigfús ómar huskuldsson, from the band dans á rósum / slagverk
sigur þór þorgilsson, bassi
Jon Elisson on piano
Ari Bragi Kárason on trumpet

Seth Sharp has performed around the world for the likes of President Clinton, at the White House, Mother Teresa in Calcutta, India and at the BBC Jazz Club. Seth has regularly performed at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City. Seth has appeared in every major Icelandic newspaper and the cover of Frettabladid. DV once wrote that Seth "sings like an angel" about one of Seth's performances. The Prince Tribute Concert will include: Kiss, Purple Rain, Let's Go Crazy, Cream, Darling Nikki, 1999, and many other great Prince tunes. So come and be ready to dance and go crazy.

Tickets are 1200 kronur in advance at Skifan or midi.is and 1500 at the door!
