Great story, very well told: congratulations!!!
I think we all dream about such an opportunity.
I dreamt that I was harmonizing "How come you don't call me anymore" with him singin' and playing the piano, but I don't know if I would have the strength to do that!!!!
Didn't you fear his judgement????

I didn't fear his judgement because I didn't feel he would "judge" me in any negative way. How could he? He understands people are not going to put on the kind of show
he could during his soundcheck. So there was no ego involved. He seemed genuinely happy with the performance, not because of the performance, but because I was happy.
When we C the Dawn...THAT is when we start 2 live.

If I felt so great just "touching" one of the guitars (thanks to Mr Oriental Guy, forgot his name) I can't imagine your feelings. You were great, man. Congrats 1 more time! I knew there was something after the clouds, tell us how does it look?

Brilliant, brilliant experience. You've experienced something most of us can only dream of and i'm really pleased for you. Surely even Prince s most hardened critics on here can give him props for doing stuff like this. Just hope he does it in the UK as well.
ps - how do you play that mpls guitar scratch?.

Call me a big 'ol sap, but I'm also over here at work in tears! We can so relate to you, Bill because no matter what we all pretty much literally grew up on Prince and that was truly a ~Beautiful Experience~.

Another great story from this tour!

But Bill, I have to ask, how did he know that you could play guitar? I can't imagine that he picked you randomly. And the same question for Ryan regarding the bass?

Awesome story, but how did he knew you could jam, I would get up there and look like an idiot because I can't sing or play, but I guess I could do some crazy chicken dance and see if he throws me off the stage. Bottom line is Prince is cool, and now think he relizes his fans are a part of him.

No, Nisha, that is cool.

Man,I remember my big night-my first show 2. 2 think I was only maybe 5 feet away from him on the very stage he was STANDING on!! I was in the back of the ppl in front of me and pretty far from the mic tho'. And 2 think, I was excited when I went 2 Radio City Music Hall at age 10, and I got 2 stand on the stage thinking "Prince was on this stage once!" He wasnt even there and I felt special then.So I know how it feels 2 b that close 2 him in a way.

Great story, it's nice to hear how down to earth and cool Prince can be. He's really treating us (npgmc) like old friends, like we have this inside joke with him. He's not this super star that doesn't talk to people and make jokes (unless you try and touch him or give him a cdr. biggrin

I've played guitar for many years, and fantasized so much about jamming with him that when the time came...I was ready. I hopped up, his guitar tech gave me his hollowbody guitar with the signature on the back, (By the way, if anyone can
tell me something about that guitar it would be great, what's the signature...etc.)

I believe the hollow body guitar was a gift from Lenny Kravitz. That is his sig on the back.

Wow! What an excellent night you had!! It is so nice to read a positive review, especially after that nasty, negative thread about the D.C. show was posted (we all know who I'm referring to). Your review proves that Prince likes to treat us all like family and that he enjoys just hanging with us and having fun. He is so down to earth, it almost makes you forget about his rock star status. How cool that he called you and a friend up and stage to play guitar! I probably would have fainted, or been so nervous that I would have botched it all up. redface lol

Prince does make eye contact with people in the audience. I experienced this myself at the Cleveland show. I was seated in the fourth row in front of the stage, and Prince made eye contact with me several times. One thing funny that happened was when I was dancing and playing air guitar, I look up, and who do I see looking at me but Prince himself! lol lol Of course then I felt shy and stopped doing that, but just the fact that he saw me doing it made it hilarious!

I'm glad you had such a great time at the concert; you now have memories that you will never forget. The fun that you experienced that evening will keep you going even with the rough times that you are now experiencing. You are one lucky man to be chosen by Prince to come up on stage to play the guitar like that! Wow!! biggrin

I think Prince will probably read this, because during the soundcheck at the Cleveland show, he mentioned something about reading what was posted on the internet, and I'm sure he was talking about the org. biggrin

Well, Nufunk, I hate to break it 2 U, but it's true. I grew
up in rural Maine where everyone my age was drinking and smoking just to fit in. To this day I do not drink or smoke becasue at my most impressionable time, I looked to Prince as someone who set his own standards and still remained a badass. Now the people I used to hang with have developed alchohol problems, smokers cough, etc...However, I have not...I DO thank Prince 4 that and I'm not ashamed to say it.
