Meghan Markle 'Won't Be Allowed to Be Black Princess' by Royal Family, Experts Say

[Misleading thread title edit - luv4u]

From Newsweek:

"Britain’s relationship with race will change forever," screamed the headline above a
Guardian column after news of Prince Harry's engagement to Meghan Markle broke on
Monday, but the excitement might be premature — Markle will likely be instructed by
royal advisors to hide that she is biracial and probably won't end up doing much to im-
prove the rocky race relations in the United Kingdom, according to two noted British
scholars.

“She won’t be allowed to be a black princess. The only way she can be accepted is to pass
for white,” Kehinde Andrews, an associate professor of sociology at Birmingham City Univer-
sity who launched the first black studies degree in Europe, told Newsweek. “If there are
people who are celebrating, it’s a bit naive, and they’ll be very disappointed.”

Markle, whose mother is black and whose father is white, is being touted by some as a beacon
of progress for the United Kingdom and its royal family, which has an exclusively white
lineage with the exception of Princess Sophie Charlotte, who married King George III in 1761
and was rumored to have African ancestry.

I watched their interview earlier on TV, they both look lovely and very in love with each other... Wishing them a long and happy relationship. 💜

I think the cat is out of the bag at this point regarding Markle being bi-racial, especially since the Prince has called out some for what he perceived as racism directed against her.

They look very happy - cheers to the happy couple!!!

It does show - that despite Harry dressing up as a Nazi in the past, attending an "Empire and Colonial" party and referring to a fellow serving unit officer as a "Paki"....

Nothing is set in stone - and people can change, learn, be open and have humility.

If only such growth can be seen in others - then maybe we will see human progress.

Bravo Harry... bravo!

Not only is Meghan bi-racial, she is 3 years older than Harry, an American and divorced. A generation ago, there would be NO WAY she would have been a suitable wife for Harry. Times have changed, in a good way, IMO.

Her being bi-racial was never a secret. This ain't "Imitation of Life " .

The future isn't here yet, how can anyone know if she'll be instructed to keep it hidden? Someone (such as the 2 british scholars in this article) always have to keep the pot stirred. They don't know what will happen.

I'm happy they are engaged, and I wouldn't be surprised if a baby comes 9 months after the wedding.

I hope this happy news doesn't become some weird undertone about race.

Prince Harry had his immature infractions - he has shown his life maturity.

As far as the media - who gives a toss

They look in love... let them be... and best for their journey and wider love resonate.

Peace, love & harmony

Is nobody going to point out that they're related? I know it's not exactly news that a member of the royal family is marrying a relative, they're all inbred anyway, but still, it's worth mentioning.

I was going to but you beat me to it lol.

Anyway here are the Wiki details, for those who are interested:

'Research compiled in 1997 by historians including Markle's great-uncle, Mike Markle,[60] revealed that her paternal great-great-great-grandmother was New Hampshire landowner Mary Hussey Smith (1823–1908),[61][62][63] a descendant of nobleman John Hussey, 1st Baron Hussey of Sleaford, who was beheaded in 1537 at the order of King Henry VIII.[64][65][66] Through Lord Hussey, Markle is a descendant of King John.[67][66] Markle is also a descendant of Captain Christopher Hussey, Esquire (d.1686) who was appointed in 1679 by King Charles II to govern the Royal Province of Hampton, New Hampshire. He was a Founding Father of Nantucket.[68][69][70]

Markle is a distant relation of Prince Harry. Their common ancestors are Elizabeth Bowes (1505–c.1572) and her husband, Richard Bowes, son of Sir Ralph Bowes of Streatlam Castle and High Sheriff of County Durham—ancestors of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother (née Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon).[71][72][73][74]

Markle's maternal great-great-great-grandfather was a slave on Georgia plantations before being emancipated with the abolition of slavery in 1865.'

That said, the relation is relatively distant and since the majority of the world population probably shares common origins in one way or another, I think we should give them a pass nod

She is alright but I never think of the royal family as pornstar hot. Not the types of women I would date. He could have gotten hotter women. The Prince looks like he belongs in a boy band. Is he in with One Direction or Backstreet Boys? They were cooking chickens when he proposed and she said it was very romantic I found that statement odd.

Why is this in politics and religion discussion though?

Nonetheless god bless, a Beautiful couple.

And I'm not saying that just so "the peasants" or whatever their fan club call themselves don't come and drag me.

Well Like JJ said, it's been public for sometime now that she is bi-racial and she should have nothing to be ashamed of over some peoples' ignorance. She never kept her racial background a secret, and she shouldn't have to. Those who have issues with her racial identity over there, will just have to get over their own prejudice. I wish both of them well.

Apparently she is hot enough for him. It's not for you, me or others to choose who we think either one of them should be with. If they're happy together, then so be it.

I could care less! Not even sure why this tabloid story is in PR? But seeing it was here thought I would chime in on it. I just found it ODD he proposed over cooking a bunch of chickens. That sounds occult.

It sounds like a ceremony. Especially uber rich people. The royal family cooking chickens and proposing over a pot of boiling chickens? Just sounds odd. We should research the "satanic" angle.

I see what you're trying to do with the chicken comment, but that says a lot about you. Anyway, as they stated, they were cooking dinner together that night, and their dinner included roasted chicken. He got down on his knee and proposed to her while they were having dinner.

I'm sure there will be some haters over their relationship, but that's too bad. They both look very happy together.

Thoughts?

I think she will move the needle just by being a royal and representing herself. That is a worldwide platform after all. Don't know the rules, can they give her a "lesser" title? But as far as Britain's relationship with race changing forever, we know from Obama's elections that won't be the case. Baby steps.

Santeria would make sense but I don't believe the royal family to be practicing in it but could be some form of the occult. Most guys they propose on the beach or someplace romantic like the jacuzzi.
