Awww George cares about forest fires, wildlife, energy sources, pollution etc. Was it in doubt? His record truly reflects his concern for environmental issues... *Sarcasm emoticon*

Well this makes you look unintelligent as no President writes his own State of the Union speech.

I listened on the radio, and also cringed at every mispronunciation of nuclear. Here's a great link from the New York Times that helped me to understand why so many people mispronounce "nuclear." It's a fun article - anyone else catch it last October?

http://query.nytimes.com/...94DA404482

I thought the delivery was characteristically uninspiring - he's no William Jefferson Clinton - but the message impressed me with clarity and purpose. Too bad he is incapable of actually writing that address himself. Unfortunately, I don't think the speech or his delivery had the power to change perspectives on Iraq, or very much else for that matter.

Somehow, at the end of the speech, I was more relieved than energized, more proud than embarrassed.

Edited to correct misspelled word and add disclaimer that link only provides "abstract" version of actual article - sorry.

Naw he's not dumb, and his speaking foibles probably do more to endear him to the Bubba club than anything Bill Clinton ever did. Bush is seen as your avg joe who is not part of the liberal elite intelligentsia.

His around the way (not my way or many others for that matter) kind of disposition and temperament is perfect for lulling people into overlooking the true randomness of his domestic offerings in this speech.

He skillfully avoided discussing the economic state of the union by offering tricklings here and there of things that may have sounded good but just don't ring well.

Take your social security out of the government's hands and put it in the hands of wall street. We know that is SO much better, just ask those people at Enron who had banked on their retirement. I'm sure they're real happy they controlled it themselves.

His solution to drug addiction? Go to church and let God save you. I see he's still trying to push his faith-based initiatives and blur the church-state separation lines.

How about the new mentorship program? Become a mentor to a child of a convict. Yeah okay.

This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

The speech reminded me
of Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels
at the Sporthalle in Berlin, 1943
declaring "total war"
and every1 standing up cheering.
What we saw last night
was a modern Nazi-rally.

But TheMax was "impressed"

It's ignorant that he doesn't know. It's dumb that he asks it when everybody can hear it.

Yeah, Bush really "made his case" this time. Any country, person or entity that poses or may pose a threat to the US national security at some time, whenever, will be dealt with. If the threat doesn't go away voluntarily, the region where the "hostility" is coming from can count on a a new round of carpet bombing, including the innocent men, women and children.

The US will, as a "civilised international law 'abiding' nation", seek cooperation to get as much legitamacy for these plans. This way Bush will secure "justice and peace of the ENTIRE world". So if nobody wants to play and buy the new US oil, the US will go at it alone and Bush will; be the worlds saviour...

You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

Why would stating a fact make me seem unintelligent? Could accuse me of stating the obvious perhaps...

For one of the most powerful political figures on earth, don't you think he better start?

I hate to break it to you, but the rest of the world thinks he is dumb.
