European court bans crucifixes in Italian schools

Italian schools have been told to remove crucifixes from their classroom walls. The instruction comes from the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

A case was brought by Italian national, Soile Lautsi, who complained that there were crucifixes in every classroom at her children’s school in northern Italy. Lautsi said their presence was against her right to give her children a secular education

Great to see, especially in Italy.

The Bible book of revelation prophecies that the a political wild beast will turn on the religions of the world, the harlot. Some find that unrealistic but there are a number of signs including this one that the ground is becoming more fertile for a move like this to take place.

Why especially in Italy?

Italy also has more liberal abortion and gay rights laws. Despite the presence of the Vatican.

I had not read that quote before but I totally agree with Bill. This is something I never understood about people wearing crosses or the cross being a religious symbol. I mean, how could an instrument of torture turn into a holy symbol?

At first I thought this was unreasonable, as I thought it was referring to jewelery that a student chooses to wear.

But now that I see it's about classroom ornamentation, I understand and agree. If these are public schools, religious symbology has no place in them, unless it is adorned by the individual students.

I agree, public schools are lay schools, no religion inside ... and there are so many religions ...
