Obama honors fallen Americans

What do you all think about Obama showing up in Dover Air force base to meet the remains coming off the cargo plane?

Do you prefer this way or the way that was done by the previous administration where even photos were not allowed to be published?

"President Barack Obama is considering a scaled-down version of the war plan advanced by his top Afghanistan commander, Gen. Stanley McChrystal, U.S. officials say," the AP says.
"A stripped-down approach would signal caution in widening a war that is going worse this year than last despite intense U.S. attention and an additional 21,000 U.S. forces sent there on Obama's watch."

Bush wanted War. Obama is to scale back War. Imagery is so important in politics.

I prefer it this way, it's seems respectful and honorable. the other way just seemed like the government had pushed those dead soldiers in the background because they weren't useful to the cause anymore. I am the mother of a solider.

i have mixed emotions about it . I think it is a good thing in general by Obama but i still dont like the way the pics are shown ... but of course in a free country ... i see the other side's opinion ...

that having been said - it reminds the President whoever he is , that he has the authority to bring them home or put them in more harm .... so I think he going there is important ... wink

Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

Afganistan? To bring justice to those who harboured those who perpetrated 9/11.

Your choice. But you asked to reminded what the stated reason was. That is it.

He should absolutely be there to greet the fallen so that he has the gravity of the situation he is in charge of firmly in his conciousness.

It would be nice if he would make a decision. Indecsion makes the opponent stronger and emboldened with the natives.

As we've seen with Bush's approach, nothing for 8 years just hand it off to the next guy. Obama deserves a chance to think this through

Sick of the Bush thing. We can only hope he's better than that. He came out with a plan in March and has been dragging he's feet.

More troops have died this month than in recent others, because he is dragging his feet. I am not proud of his inaction. Again, Barack Obama disappoints by playing golf right afterwards! It doesn't make me feel that our commander in chief really cares about our young people!

He's played more than twice the rounds of golf I've played this year and I'm unemployed!
Myers should be having a field day with this and the basketball.

I'm good with how it's being handled. Not only should the President be there to greet the soldiers' remains when they're unloaded, but footage needs to be shot every time it happens and broadcast. The entire point of hiding the soldiers' sad homecomings before was because of the potential the image of rows of coffins covered in stars and stripes had to effect public opinion about the war.

IMO each of the soldiers' names and photos also need to be broadcast. I understand that could be time consuming given the death toll is still steady, and still high, but if it helps put faces to those statistics and remind people of what a stupid fucking waste this whole enterprise is, I'm for it.

At this point it seems Obama can cure cancer and the right could find fault with it.
The right has gone insane to the furthest extremes that whatever they say is just becoming easier and easier to roll your eyes and ignore.

I prefer THAT^ way as well. At least President Obama have evidences to show that he was there.
