I want my AMERICA back! "I WANT MY AMERICA BACK," something that I saw a lady say at one of the upteen townhall meeting in the lasst couple of days on the news. She also used the word socialist too in that same paragraph also, (just to keep things in context.) When she said this, I wondered as to what america she was refering too. And I got to thinking, people often in debate and or conversation refer to America as the greatest country in the world. "Only in America", is a line that I've heard every since I can remember. Now, it seems as if everyone who says these types of things about the U.S.A always compares America to other countries as any kind of offence or defence when justifying or arguing and defending their patriotism. Now this lady was making reference to the big Health care Reform that's heating up right now, but, some people think that it's also because we now have a black president too. Anyway, what do you think (besides health care reform) people are meaning when they say "I want my America back"? How do you view America? Through what lense do you want to see her? Compared to it's self, it's constitution, and it's promise of "the persuit of happiness"? Why are people so afraid of change? Let looks at the larger picture here. There has to be. (By the way, Medicare and Medicade are or sort of health care reform also). The reaction to this is far larger than just health care reform. Life is about change, it's how we individually and collectively survive, both physically and mentally, yet it seem that certain people don't want this, because they think it'll be our demise. I think this is mainly a center left VS cernter right debate.

I can't for the life of me understand why the media specially the left is giving so much time to these misinformed fringe groups which only further promotes and draw attention to their cause.

There is no such thing as bad publicity. i think they are trying to show them the irony of their stance, by her saying no socialism but pro medicare and than claiming the founding fathers were antisocialist when that concept didn't even exisit til 100 years after the founding of America. it is necessary to help others, not only in our prayers, but in our daily lives. If we find we cannot help others, the least we can do is to desist from harming them.

He was way too easy on her. She was lying out her ass. He made a good point when he pointed out she slept politically through 9/11 and the Iraq war, but for some reason healthcare woke her up.

What are you thoughts? What they are doing is running with the ideas they get from the far-right wing talk radio hosts. They are stirred up with vitriol and hatred and lies. And all this is done by people who, when their evilness is exposed, fall back on the "Limbaugh is just an entertainer" excuse. Second Funkiest White Man in America

There is no such thing as bad publicity. The need to keep exposing these full of shit, sorry ass people! That woman has a $5000.00 annual deductible to pay before her health insurance kicks in to cover her family. It's AUGUST and she said they've almost got their deductible paid for this year. So until she and her husband finish paying that ridiculously high deductible, they still have to pay out of pocket for their family's health care needs and she said her son needs surgery. Yet she is against the Health Care Reform that is being drafted to help her stupid ass! The more uninformed on Health Care Reform these people are shown to be, the more the realization kicks in that they are disrupting these Town Hall meetings for nefarious purposes! Of course, I'm a Liberal! I'm an American, damn it!

What are you thoughts? One year ago, Bush was in office. People wanted change. Take a look at what the DOW has done CRASH started over the past year. We had the bailout, stimulus, banking..etc. Then what happened was the DOW turned around in March. This IMO plays into the entire psyche of the American people. They no logner wish for drastic change. Stability is wanted. Obama is continuing to sell drastic change. True we need heathcare reform but it's also the way he is selling it to the people. He is out of touch with them now, he wasn't a year ago when everything was crashing.

The sad thing is if you have caid the party never ends. If you have insurance sooner or later the money runs out and you lose everything you ever saved. Or they just drop the coverage on you 3 times like they did to my mom, who was battling metastatic breast cancer at the time. Do you know what its like to battle Stage 4 Breast cancer and assholes at the insurance company at the same time? I'm not completely sold on Obama's plan. Still believe they need something in those instances to stand up for the little guy.

Though in my imagination, the hooker is the Big, Black, Dominatrix type that bends Karl to Her every twisted. perverted, kinky whim and has his punk, sorry, useless ass, repeatedly coming back...begging, pleading and giving up all kinds of official government secrets...for more of Her abuse and utter disgust! ...she was referring to the one where White people ruled the world, and Blacks & other minorities didn't stand a snowball's chance in Hell of getting a break. That's what I'M saying! The America people are speaking of when they say, "I WANT MY AMERICA BACK!" Is the "Good ol boy network" when white people had the power and everyoneelse had nada. I feel that America has NEVER EVER EVER been America, if anyone in here can understand what I'm saying. And I'm sure you all can. Let's compare America to it'self and see what we come up with, post Lincoln. The Hanities, Becks, Limbaughs and other rightwingedballsacks aren't doing this, they're clinging onto BASEBALL, and THAT didn't even come from America, but, that's what they'll tell you.

His "easy" approach allowed her to dig herself deep into a ditch! IMHO, he finessed that interview flawlessly. And I don't think she was "lying" as much as she just didn't have a F'ing clue. When the insurance company decides to stop paying or refuse to cover visits/diagnostic testing/treatments, etc., at the best institutions, because they feel the cost is too expensive, and tell you to go to another health institution that is less expensive, but may not be "up to par" as far as the best treatments, best physicians or equipment, etc., or when the insurance companies refuse to pay for medication that patients need that can help their medical condition, but because it is extremely expensive, the insurance companies will not pay for it or will recommend an alternate that may not do the job as well, then maybe people will support healthcare reform. I've been working at a health institution for more than 12 years, and I can't begin to tell you how many patients could not afford to pay for medication that they so badly needed and had to settle for a cheaper brand. Or their insurance companies will only pay for an initial visit, but will not continue to pay for further visits/diagnostic testing/treatments at institutions patients want to be treated at, because the costs is too expensive. It's a shame, but true. [Edited 8/16/09 10:15am] Education, the greatest weapon
