This Is The Infamous Interview That Killed Arsenio Hall's Career... Its intersting to me that when Brother minister have been a guest at Barbara & Mike Wallace' shows and it expanded their resume,,,,,but when he showed up @ Arsenio's, it ended his career. I'm proud of him for pulling the courage that Oprah & Montell lacked, easily the BEST interview he ever conducted.

If he was indeed on his way out before Farrakhan, media moguls wouldn't threw a fit and demanded him to denounce his invitation to Farrakhan. Love is just like the faucet

Even before the plan interview with Min. Farrakhan, the TV ratings for the final season The Arsenio Hall Show were already dropping because of too many complaints from some (non-black) viewers that Arsenio were having rap artists on his show too often. Keep in mind that Jay Leno & David Letterman always had country and/or rock artists on their shows around this time. But it's so easily to read between the lines that Arsenio was becoming too hood for his own good (Paramount Television's opinion). Paramount Television already gave Arsenio an advance notice that his show was going to get cancel before the start of the 5th (and final) season. And since Arsenio had nothing else left to lose, he invited Min. Farrakhan to the show. [Edited 7/11/09 19:36pm] Tupac "Makaveli" Shakur (RIP 1971-1996) & Michael Jackson (RIP 1958-2009)

Also(and correct if I'm wrong) but weren't there negotiations with HBO to make a show for him as well? [Edited 7/11/09 19:41pm] Love is just like the faucet

Yes, he was. And that's exactly why he had Farakkhan on. Unfortunately for Arsenio, that one action fucked off his career and how he didn't know that he was gonna get blackballed for that is beyond me. It's probably a case of a dude thinking he was more than what he actually was. nWo: bboy87 - Timmy84 - LittleBlueCorvette - MuthaFunka - phunkdaddy - Christopher

Looking at it from today´s perspective, I find it almost unbelievable that someone like Arsenio would lose his job because of being "too hood".I mean, judging by today´s standards, what he was doing back then was totally OK, IMO.

That's why I asked about late night hosts. There are some great comedians and others who I think would be wonderful for the job.
