Holy fuck, this makes me wanna throw up. Oh my God. This pisses me off to no end. I can't even articulate it outside of profanity.

Utter bullshit. Things like this further segregate the races. In the United States, we should be moving FORWARD and bringing races together, instead of harboring this "Us and Them" mentality. Peter Tosh said it best, it doesn't matter where you come from, we're ALL African.

Calling people white-devils and shit? Fuck 'em. The world has no place for religious radicals, especially violent ones. I say kill the Quanell guy. Piece of human shit.

That guy is just incredibly stupid. MY people? (I happen to be white). I, nor does anyone I know ever killed anyone. And no one I know has had slaves, or done anything racist. Those things, while despicible, are in the PAST. Move past it and forgive, instead of using the past as an excuse/crutch for your own racism, and make moves to encourage a mindset that says "At one time, we were segregated, but NOW we will embrace our white/asian/Native American/etc brothers."

This guy is just as bad (or even worse) that any other extremist. I live in the south. I know racism. From both sides, black and white. This guy is a terrible, terrible human being...

I won't even go into all the religious BS he spouted.

Duh....I hate when folks say..."get over it", I've never own any slaves.

It only shows a utter disrespect and disregard the history of racism and the true destruction slavery, jim crow, and "post-racial" bs confused had on black americans.

Believe me, I have members of the NOI in my family and I've had many arguments on their positions but please don't just toss aside my history as something that should be forgotten but currently folks don't want to deal with the fact that racism still exists.

I have never owned a slave. People like the douchenozzle in the video wants to blame ALL white people for what happened hundreds of years ago. Thats' the same thing as saying all Muslims are terrorists, or all Japanese are cannibals, etc. It's just stupid to hold one "race" responsible for something, especially when modern day members of said races had nothing to do with the grievance at hand.

This guy is just as racist as any KKK member.

Get over it. It's hard for a wound to heal when you keep stabbing it open with a knife.

I was never a slave owner. You were never a slave. So why can't we all just get along. Because black people like the guy in the video feel somehow entitled to something they had no part in, other than they were the same color? If I traced my ancestry far enough, I bet I'd find several slaves in my family (there were plenty of slaves of all races). Does that mean I should still hold a grudge for that? No, because it has nothing to do with me.

Racism can never go away as long people like the guys in the video keep promoting it under the guise of fairness and equality.

Well when I saw this thread I was all ready to explain black racial anger in response to repression as oppossed to white fear based oppression and towards black folks.....sigh!

Yes this conversation does desolve into hatred. As angry as I am about the past and present oppression of African Americans. I have no desire to do harm to the general population of white americans who may or may not know they have and are currently doing wrong.

Why are you harping on slavery? And lawd..I had to defend the NOI but they aren't talking about 1853. There are current issues of racism that black people experience TODAY like myself. My great uncle wasn't a slave and was lynched. Those black children at the pool were not slaves. My daughter being called a nigger by players on an opposing team and having the refs cheat so badly that the OTHER school complained, she hasn't been a slave and yet all have experienced racism.

When a black person speaks of racism, you think we're talking about slavery?

I'm not for having grudges per se but don't tell ppl to get over it. I rarely here anyone tell Jewish ppl to get over the holocaust. There's a sympathy for the deaths and the destruction of family that occurred. Same with slavery, same with jim crow, same with the foster care system, same with unfair drug laws, etc.

You have no respect for the history of black people living in America and clearly you think that black people should be grateful and forget AMERICAN history.

lame.

We've all experienced prejudices in our lives. Because your particular experience was based on race makes it somehow more sympathetic? Sorry about your daughter and great-uncle, but what in the hell does it have to do with ME? Or Bill O Reilly, or any other white person for that matter. That's my beef. This guy is painting it like ALL white people should be held responsible for what a racist white person does. Fuck that, don't lump me in with those idiots. It doesn't make any sense to blame all white people for owning slaves, just as it doesn't make sense to say all Germans are nazi's and all middle eastern people were part of 9/11.

I'm encouraging AMERICAN history, it people like you and the guy in the video who want to keep tha seperate from AMERICAN history. BLACK HISTORY MONTH? Hello? Where's White/Asian/Native American/Hispanic/Pacific Islander/etc history month(s)? Screw all of this "I'm special" crap, and celebrate AMERICAN culture, instead of dissecting different parts as "black culture" or "black history". As Americans (and even as humans) we share history and culture, and the separation and "special months" only propagates the "Us and Them" attitude...

Well, well, well, of all people, Bill O'Reilly, racist to his hearts content...please...if those things you mentioned were in the past, then why does extreme racism still exists? Since Obama has been President the membership in anti-black groups have increased tremendously. You still have folks that have that "plantation" mentality and will still not accept African-Americans as first class citizens, because it is ingrained in white racists' brains that they think they are "better" than anyone of Black African descent.

Yes the human race started in Africa, but try telling that to an all white community and see what happens. There is a state of denial in America. They have never dealt with the crimes of the past and that is why that mentality still exists today. It is easy to say, forget the past. Maybe it easy for you, but since racial profiling still exists, and police brutality against non-whites continue to rise, and there is still discrimination in real estate, and other agencies within this system, then you cannot just tell people to move on, when ignorant stereotypical ass-umptions are still being taught at home and racial acts are being committed against non-whites.

It amazes me that when a Black person stands up against those that they feel have oppressed their people for years, all of sudden some folks forget why that individual would feel that way, nor do they seem to remember that this country became what it is because of white racists committing racist and heinous acts. This country became what it is because of ethnic cleansing, violence and bloodshed, then the racists went to church on Sunday, and justified all their crimes by standing in front of the church with a bible in hand and calling God's name. I don't stand for the policies of the Nation of Islam or any group like that, but I can understand why I would hear some of them say some of the things they are saying. When history is taught the way it should have been taught years ago, when the admission of the crimes done to others, not just blacks are told in truth, and when people who were/are taught that they are better than others, are actually taught that they are not and never will be, then maybe we will start seeing some "change of attitudes" towards racism, but for right now, that "kumbaya" BS is not working.

Check out history dude. Have many whites in the past created the lie that all black people were/are criminals, savages? Do some that still feel that way still promote those racist assumptions today? Especially in the media? Of course they do. Do the research dude. It sounds like you're using your own guilt that you created to make it right. You talk about separate? Who created the segregation laws in the past? It certainly wasn't black people. It was black people and people from other races that walked the streets to knock down the doors of segregation.

You still have, in 2009, communities in America that will not allow African-Americans to buy homes there. This is all fact. There's still major work to be don. Do the research before you start screaming about the guy in the video who does not speak for all Black Americans no more than the KKK speaks for all White Americans. It is not a crime for Black Americans to embrace their culture. There are various ethnic groups within the Black race, just like with the White race, and there is no crime in embracing their culture. They have every right to, especially when for years it has been demeaned and disrespected by other races.

Black Americans have been the ones to repair the damages to their people, brought upon their distant and recent ancestors, from those who oppressed their race in the past, and I'm not just talking 400 years ago, I'm talking less than 60 years ago, with some of those same folks and their children still alive that went through the segregation/jim crow era.

If we don't embrace our culture in a society that still demeans us, then who will? African-Americans are the ones that have to clean up the mess someone else did. You have no idea the damages that have been done, not just to descendants of African ancestors who were slaves, and victims of the jim crow/segregation era, but other groups as well, and those groups certainly cannot depend on those, who are the descendants of ancestors who committed those acts , to do the repair. It's much deeper than you can ever imagine. So you can be pissed as hell about Black history month or the fact that there are some of us that are not afraid to let this nation know that racism and the disparities still exists. It's a fact.

I respect your post, but Obama being elected president did not rid America of racial hatred. Don't be fooled that just because some white people voted for Obama, that they don't hold racial prejudice in their hearts. Look at what happened to those black kids at the private pool? That white guy voted for Obama too, but yet kicked the black kids out of his private club because they were black, after their membership dues were paid. Racism is still alive in America, and I don't think it will ever go away, because the past attitudes of racism and all its ignorance still exists in many minds today. There's still racial profiling, police brutality against non-whites and discrimination in the real estate market and people want to say this nation moved forward because Obama was elected? Not at all.

You've got to know I know that. I even acknowledge that in my post. But "The white man is the devil" mantra has run its course.

I do believe as opposed to any other time in history we can now see the fruits of our efforts in combating racism. Now the way to doing that isn't by "killing white people" but rather educating them and ourselves.

IMHO African Americans are more powerful and potent than any other time in our history in this country. Not saying we don't have a ways to go, because we do. But we have come a very very very long way.

Have the guys in the video actually went out and killed white people? Is calling white people the devil any different from racists calling black people the "n" word and believing they are? Both those terms and phrases have been heard for years, but it is up to those who use education to stamp out racism who will be the ones to assist in stamping it out.

I don't believe it will ever go away until, we see more of this topic discussed in schools across America, and the truth told about American history no matter how ugly, and this way, we won't have all the lies about history circulating, like it has for years.

More programs in the media on educating others about other races, the various ethnic groups that exists within, and to learn that none of them are "monolithic". There's still a lot of anger in the air because we're only less than 60 years from the time the civil rights act was signed. Then again memberships in hate groups have increased tremendously since Obama has become President, so basically, this nation still has a long way to go.

The reason racism will never ever stop is because a lot of people have the "what does this have to do with me?" attitude. Every single one of us knows a person who is racist, white, black, brown, whatever. What do WE do to rid the world of racism?

The reason black history month is celebrated is because the achievements of African Americans are largely left out out American history books.

Saying that we do not have own own culture is ridiculous and ignorant on your part. We speak differently. We act differently. There is nothing wrong with that and that diversity should be embraced instead of wanting us to assimilate.

The moment that all Americans are treated as equals is the moment I personally will rally for the removal of Black History Month, the NAACP, etc. Until then, I respectfully ask you to get over it.

Nostradamus, you're generalizing. Who said Blacks would do the same to whites? You're going by a video with comments from a few individuals who do not speak for the entire Black race. If Black people wanted to do what was done to their ancestors years ago, it would have been done by now. But it is 2009, and in my opinion, Black Americans as a whole apparently have been and are a forgiving people, regardless of all the racist attitudes and barriers they faced for years. They (and not speaking for all Blacks) but in general, I see a people who have and continue to survive the acts of racism whether it is done institutionally or in-your-face.

There are some folks that get their education from "hearsay" like someone on another thread being told "Blacks men were all on welfare" when we know that is the biggest lie, because Blacks are not at the top of the welfare rolls. If Black people don't educate others and let those that have absolutely no knowledge or experience about the various ethnic groups and cultures that exist within the black race, then you will continue to see the ignorant nonsense and misinformation played out in society.

Now whether you don't like what those guys in the video said or not is your right to feel that way, but to generalize is not the way to go. If Blacks wanted to do to whites, what happened to their ancestors, they would have done that by now if that was the case. Learn about your history, learn about the human race and the history of it. It is important to know about history, and the origins of man.

This is the reason why there is so much ignorance on the part of those that make absolutely no effort to learn beyond their own race/culture, but seem to have no problem spewing out ignorant and misinformed comments. There's a wealth of information on various races and cultures out there, people just have to get off their asses and do the work. There's college courses being taught on these subjects. One can also take a trip to the library to find books that have this information. There's also the internet with a wealth of information and make sure you compare the research found. There's also museums one can visit that have exhibitions on the origins of man. I recently returned from an exhibition in New York and found it quite fascinating. There's a wealth of books out there and information from genetic scientists and anthropologists on the origins of man.

Here's a link about the exhibition I just visited today in NYC

Also, Geneticist, Spencer Wells, gives a inside view of the origins of man in his DVD and book called "The Journey of Man". Here's a link with information on him:

Another book by Donald Johanson and Maitland Edey called "Lucy, the beginnings of Human Kind" which I just purchased, can also give you insight into the origins of man.

Change people's beliefs, attitudes and actions so that everything is fair and equal, and I will shut up.
So after 400 years of inequality, we are just supposed to give oppression the benefit of the doubt? And do what? Try to go swimming in Pennsylvania?

You want us all to live in an idealized world but reality won't let us.

I basically grew up in a predominantly white community as well, until the mid to late 70s, when what we call "the white flight" when white neighbors decided to move out to long island, because many blacks were moving into the community and were purchasing homes there. I also went to public school through high school with many white kids, mostly jewish and italian, so in my opinion, that has nothing to do with hearing various opinions from many blacks about how they feel society has unfairly treated them over the years.

There's nothing wrong with wanting black people to be independent and empowering their race. Take a look at history. It will take Black people to empower their race as a whole, preserve history and the various cultures of the many ethnic groups within our race. There is nothing wrong with that. Other race groups do it. So why can't we. Look at all the damage that has been done psychologically to those who lived through the jim crow/segregation era. Many of those people are still alive and remember. Their kids watched them grow through it, and now all many of them want to do, is teach our kids, that there is nothing wrong with our skin color or our history. We should not have to walk in shame of it because some racists despised our skin color, and disrespected our history.

It's like black people have to repair the damage and brainwashing that affected many before us. You go ahead and feel as you should, nothing wrong with that, but just know that there is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to repair the years of psychological damage, that has been afflicted upon black people for years on end to the point where many were not proud of who they are as individuals, and this whole racial hatred due to "skin color" has even, sadly, pit many black people against each other, and that is an unfortunate and sad truth.

If you can't embrace "all" of what you are, and yes, that includes the color of your skin, because it is the color of their skin, that became the product of racial hatred they experienced from many, and that particular issue is still a problem today, that many racists can't seem to let go of, because of how they were taught, and the racist, ignorant, stereotypical information handed down to them from generation to generation. Reason it still exists, is because many racists refuse to make the effort to give respect or acceptance to African-Americans as first class citizens in this country and that is a fact. So there is a lot to deal with and a lot of repairs to be made, to continue moving African-Americans forward in a still existing racist society.
