Blacks need a TV media OUTLET ASAP...... I watched a few hours of the Mj coverage last night and one thing was painfully obvious. Black Americans need a National Television presence ASAP. The Black perspective on every major issue is damn near ignored. Last night's discussion on Mj was just a blaring example.

Okay black media isn't or wouldn't be concentrating on criminal allegations that were proven to be false or that he was aquitted of in the court of law! If you turn on any black radio station no one is talking about that shit. No we are celebrating the life of a remarkable entertainer and music icon. One who will be missed and whose musical and entertaining gifts we appreciated to the fullest. Now turn on white media from CNN to FOX and they give you the good and then they have to tell you that he is broke and that he was accused of being a pedophile. which I think would be releavent except he was a aquitted and I can't see anyone owning the beetle's catalog as broke. W A Y O F F So what were black folks talking about? The stuff I saw on NBC was basically just a retrospective of his life and did include the perspectives of a few black folks. www.adamjames.net -official website

I don't know if MJ was a child molester and we will never know for sure, but this was a huge part of his life and I don't see how it can be ignored. Having said that, I do think that everyone should be remembering him in a positive light at this time and not dwelling on the weird or gossipy types of things that are currently happening.

For starters he was never found guilty of being a pedophile so that should have stopped after the court case. Bringing it up just reminds me of what I think killed him in the first place. So its not even reported from the view of he was the victor but rather they are still questioning and that pisses me off. That is why we need a black media outlet to tell our story and not the white media's. Because to the best of my knowledge the only bad thing they say about Elvis is that he was fat and loved fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches. THE CARDINAL HAS SPOKEN!!!

I have to say I felt the same way, from CNN - FOX, no respect. They're using this air time to get as much advertisers to buy air time and hike up ratings, but of course, they seem to be focusing "more" on the molestation accusations. For goodness sakes, the man isn't 6 feet underground yet and they're already trashing him. I wanted to send CNN an email and tell them to at least show some respect, it's too early in his death to be heartless towards him and his family. Just sickening. I'm listening to some radio stations that at least have the decency to not mention that. Honestly, I knew when I heard of his death, that the media (tv/cable) were going to focus on the negative stuff that happened in his life. There's plenty of time for the media to spend on the negative stories, for now, I think the least they could do is show some respect and focus more on his contributions to the music industry which is over a 40 year history. W A Y O F F Gray, I respect you a lot, and I know exactly what you're talking about, but most folks here will not understand where you are coming from, they'll only read into into your statement what they want, and it will not be positive thoughts, but I hear you clearly and understand what you mean. Don't let others' negative opinions about MJ, destroy how you felt about him as an artist. Also, I was listening to some of the answers Quincy gave to one of the CNN personalities, when she just had to ask him about some personal things about MJ, and he respectfully told her, he would not discuss that. He also said the only thing that did upset him was MJ changing his features, he said MJ knew how strongly Quincy felt about that, but in my opinion, those were very, personal issues that MJ had within himself that he had to deal with, not anyone else, and it was very sad to see him make those transformatons. I can only say that MJ made major contributions to the music industry and I'm glad I was able to grow up with his music and enjoy the beautiful music from MJ and his family. May he rest in peace, and although I will miss him as an artistic genius, I am praying his soul is in peace, and at least those who threw stones at him, can no longer rob his soul. . People choose to remember Elvis for all the good he did, and only that... people treat him like a god. Before Micheal there was white music played by white artists on white radio stations, and black artists were only played and heard on predominantly black stations. When Micheal did his thang, EVERYONE just saw a great performer, there was NO color, and MTV HAD to give him airtime. Micheal was music, white and black people adored him and he became a superstar for that. MJ was a trailblazer that broke many color lines and people to this day still imitate him in hopes of repeating the success MJ has achieved. MJ was a genius when it came to being the perfect publicity machine, which IMHO led to his own undoing. This is the fucking problem with the media.... they only white wash the stories of their own. [Edited 6/26/09 13:06pm] Exactly, and yet here we are in 2009 with people advocating injecting color straight back in.

So when it all boils down to is the reason African Americans don't have a voice in news is nobody else's fault but our own. Sucks but its true. I was there when they had JB's body for viewing at the Apollo, and I was outside with folks singing JB's songs and just celebrating his life and his contributions to the music industry. The media, again, tried to bring up his past arrests and other negative stuff. I had just read his book the year before and he explains it all, and it is totally different from what was reported in the media. The media is not an embracing place, and is only interested in how much viewership and advertising dollars they can get during reporting stories like this. They know the viewership is high because many fans/viewers are trying to get as much info as possible as to what happened/how did he die, and other info. So in my opinion, they don't really care what family members their hurting when they report stories like this. Education, the greatest weapon

When Bob Johnson sold it, Viacom was and still is not interested on promoting positive programs to black viewers. I would not blame it on African-Americans as a whole, it's way too easy to say that. If that's the case, then you could say the same thing about latin, Indian, African (yes there are very good African programs on the African Channel, russian, italian, greek, etc., tv that report news within their communities as a whole. I'm glad Al Sharpton is addressing to the media, and asking them what is their purpose or the need to "discuss MJ's darkside" instead of looking into more of the impact he made on the music industry. It's a damn shame something like that has to be asked of adults who are suppose to be professionals.

we talked about this as a prehard stuff talk in therapy session. My psychologist said she doesn't feel he was a pedophile just a tragic man. However she doesn't understand how the people that wanted his head on a plate are now singing his praises. it's interesting how her and i don't see it as them attacking him but see more praise but some of you are saying you see more negativity. Yeah, but some of these nasty beeyotches are taking it way too far. You're hearing "hearsay" from people who were not even close to him talking sh*t. These same beeyotches didn't give a sh*t about him when he was on trial, so why all the BS, fake-ass concern now?Let them keep talking as one day, they'll see how it is to lose someone and have folks put them down before the body gets cold. For now I'll ignore all the usual, not surprised media BS. and just remember MJ for the great artist that he was. His music will always live on and the ones talking BS now about him, won't last as long as his music anyway. [Edited 6/26/09 14:51pm] Education, the greatest weapon
