The Results: Barack Obama Has Been Elected The 44th President of The United States of America (Post Here) - Part 1

Let's post up here as returns come in. We should have alot of the country covered.

What are polling places like where you are? Long lines? Any shenanigans?

Polls start closing in 9 hours!

You'll be one of the states that goes to McCain.
The embarrassment and weird looks when you say you're from Florida will continue.

I'm hoping the fact that 3 times the number of new Democrats who registered to vote than new Republicans helps though.

I would LOVE Florida to show blue this year pray

I feel the same way unless you're talking about genitals.

Here's the very first result:

http://www.nydailynews.co..._wins.html

DIXVILLE NOTCH, N.H. - Democrat Barack Obama came up a big winner in the presidential race in Dixville Notch, N.H., where the nation's first Election Day votes were cast and counted early Tuesday morning.

Obama defeated John McCain, 15 to 6. Independent Ralph Nader received no votes.

The first voter, following tradition established in 1948, was picked ahead of the midnight voting, and the rest of the town's 21 registered voters followed suit in Tuesday's first minutes.

Town Clerk Rick Erwin said the northern New Hampshire town is proud of its tradition, but that the most important thing is that the turnout represents a 100% vote.

Yes, I saw that at 12am this morning.

I don't think we'll hear anything until after 10pm EST tonight on the East Coast. At least that's what I heard on CNN the other day. They said by 10pm they should have an idea of who will be President, but I'm not going to believe it until I see/hear Barack Obama come out and accept the congratulations if he wins. Right now for me, this is the longest day...patience...patience...

Well the pundits seem to think that it all hedges on Virginia. If it goes to Barry then McCain's chances are almost nil. If it goes to McCain then its all bout Ohio and Florida again. N we know how that usually turns out.

Ohio, Virginia and Florida won't matter.
The first two will be caught up in the Obama landslide and Florida, well, it'll still be Florida, the electoral problem child.

Some exit polls are starting to come out.

Well, I'm in Minnesota (Minneapolis) and we had a very good turnout this morning. We had one minor problem, but cool heads and quick thinking got the problem corrected.
