I assume NOT, otherwise there's no point in going any further in this discussion.

So, let's assume that you're implying that he is a Muslim, or secretly harbors Muslim tendencies.

What about it?

We do have freedom of religion in this country, no?

I realize that the U.S.A. has strong Christian roots, but we are supposed to be a "melting pot", aren't we?

Islam (whose followers are known as Muslims) is a religion, a belief system.
Obama is Christian.
How many Christians around the world do not have Christian names?

I always wondered how the Republican party, with it's immense failures, massive deficit, failure to respond to numerous crises, failed war, record deficit, corruption and removal of freedoms over the past 8 years could ever shore up as much support as it is right now.

But now I know.... Some of them are xenophobic reactionary sensationalists intimidated by a man's middle name.

it was a christian president who led this country into an unnecessary war, resulting in Lord knows how many deaths counting US soldiers, Iraqi civilians and all those caught in the line of fire, so why exactly are you hung up on Obama's name?

its time some people stop the bullshit and focus on what really matters instead of this nonsense over a name.

What does it matter what Obama's name is? Bill Clinton's middle name is Jefferson, but that doesn't mean he was movin' on up.

YOU DAMN RIGHT I want BARACK "HUSSEIN" OBAMA to be President!

You have a problem with the muslim faith, don't take it out on Obama. Should we curse every individual on earth with a so-called "islamic" name?

What kills me, is how the haters act like America doesn't have homegrown terrorists. Joe or Joanne that probably lives right next door to them with an American name. The church that was bombed in Atlanta back in the '60s that killed 4 little girls (the crime committed by a U.S. Citizen; The Oklahoma bombing - killed children in a daycare and other individuals --again, crime committed by a U.S. citizen, and I don't see anybody stereotyping every white male or bringing up the name "McVeigh" (which was the last name of the white guy that was one of the guys responsible for the Oklahoma bombing) and asking Americans are they afraid of anyone with that last name and calling hime a terrorist.

What about the Columbine massacre when 2 young white males, who just decided to take shotguns and murder innocent students in a high school, "just because" or the recent shootings at Virginia Tech where a student murdered other students?? What about gangs ruling the streets of many large cities in America? Should we not be more worried about the citizens terrorizing citizens, but instead you're concerned about a man whose white mother gave him the middle name of his African father over 40 years ago, and so Barack should suffer for that?

Was his Mother suppose to ask America's permission if she should be allowed to name her child a specific name and get approval?

What the hell does his middle name have to do with him individually? He is not a muslim and that has been proven. Should we just ask all Americans to list their surnames and if any of them have one that one we don't like, that we should demote them to less than a human being and a terrorist and push them off the face of the earth?

Isn't that the same thing Hitler and his gang did to the Jews? Punished anyone who had a Jewish surname? Isn't hatred towards someone's "name" no different than being a racist who hates someone or assumes because of their skin color that they are bad news? That's how genocide starts with that kind of thinking. I have much more things in this world to worry about, like homeless people on the street, child abuse, domestic abuse, the rising cost of healthcare, insufficient healthcare for those stricken with cancer and can't receive the best treatment because their insurance company won't pay for it? I can go on, and you're worried about Senator Barack Hussein Obama's middle name? Please...get in touch with reality.

It's just a name. He even addresses this subject in his book, and admits that his name does draw a lot of negative attention. In my opinion, that's part of the reason he is the person he is (kinda like Johnny Cash's "A Boy Named Sue" but less violent).

He is a Christian (relatively new development, as he made an adult choice to become one), but it's not supposed to matter, right? ;
