Fred Thompson just disqualified Obama for being a senator in the most unpopular congress in decades.

It is Senator McCain isn't it?

The Democrats have a technical majority, but you should know that as a high profile understudy in P&R.

Funny thing is, their approval gets lower every time they enact a republican backed policy.

That makes me chuckle. There are a lot of folk that I do ONLY see here and no where else. Come on, show us your soft side!

And....I still don't understand conservative folk on this site. A site that pays homage to a sexually suggestive, short, Black man. If this were a site for Toby Keith fans or George Strait...well then HELL I'd darn tootin' understand!

Okay, "understudy," you want to go there? Really?

Honeybaby, who had control of the Congress for the prior six years?

Senator Thompson, an honorable person who does not get credit for his own brand of maverick politics, gave the best speech the RNC will have by far.

But he simply repeated the same lines that have been used against Democrats for years.

"Obamanomics" is Clintonomics.

Clintonomics gave us historic surpluses.

Reaganomics and W-nomics gave us historic deficits.

And you're cheering for . . . what, again?

i know that it is common to attribute every and any economic outcome to whoever is president at the time, but my understanding of economics, the principles and workings of the economy, taxation, and just governance feel no need to lean on such notion or equations.

the low energy prices and the internet and technology boom of the 90s made hurting the basics of the US ecomony really really hard.

Thanks for the condescension, which is amusing but beside the point.

That may be common, but that's not what I am talking about.

The president is steward of the federal government's finances.

Under Clinton, the federal government not only paid off the Reagan/Bush deficits, but passed on a surplus to the next administration.

Under Reagan, Bush and W, the government realized historic deficits. And the first two of those three had to raise taxes at least once to ameliorate them.

As for the president's economic policies and their impact on the economy as a whole, correct me if I'm wrong, but if Feddy Guv borrows less money, then more capital is available for private investment.

So, capital was freed up under the Clinton administration to . . .? Invest in the new markets that triggered the boom.

My apples and oranges are appropriately paired here.

So don't dodge the point. You pride yourself on reason, and justifiably so. So surely you understand how to embrace truths, however . . . ahem . . . inconvenient.

wasn't it cute how he seemed more pleased that he didn't make any gaffs in the speech? wasn't it cute how he paused in that (dare I say pre-taped) speech, for applause in the crowd?

If only someone could've gotten a pic of the applause sign they were using during the convention tonight? One can dream, can't one...?

I love their slogan "Country First" because it suits them perfect. Instead of using the words "America First" or "Nation First", they chose "Country" which is much more appropriate because when I think of the word "Country", I immediately think of hillbilly backwoods homophobic racists who hate everyone that isn't just like them and twist religion around to justify it. Yes, "Country First" is a perfect slogan for their country asses.
