Once you become aware of the gulf between what people profess to believe and how they actually behave, it’s hard to take any of it seriously.
this is an awesome quote.

I remember in 2002 0r 2003, he came out with a rant about the War on Terror. It was very pro-Bush.

Even if he is totally joking Greg, I agree with the quote I posted above. Nothing turns me off of Christianity like Christians do.Neocons trumpeted it as the greatest monologue in the history of mankind. They were not one bit embarrassed to find out it was the work of a comedian.

It's bad people calling themselves Christians in order to provide cover for dastardly deeds. What we need IMHO is more education about what Christ really preached, so that when charlatans try to do bad things in the name of Christianity, the public can rise up and stop it. Or at least recognize that someone is lying to them. This applies to any religion, too. I have never bought the line that Islam preaches all non-believers are to be killed. Question. (And I'm not asking to be argumentative. I've asked this before from many people and the only answer I get is "faith.") How do we know what Christ really preached? Where do we get this information? The New Testament does not paint Jesus in a positive light. My reading of it makes him out to be a bit bipolar. I think the reason charlatans are able to do bad things is because the bible itself is fuzzy IMO. As for buying the line that Islam preaches that all non-believers are to be killed, all you need to do is open up a copy of the Koran. It's in there, in many passages, in all it's bloody glory. The Koran is not like the bible with all it's various narratives and contradictory perspectives. The Koran is one long narrative (a very long and dull narrative IMO) directly from the angel Gabriel to Mohammed. Of course, it could be argued that since Mohammed was illiterate and he himself recited the angelic prose back to people who could write, much was lost in translation. Which brings us back to the authenticity of holy books. As for Pat Condell, he's funny, but I hope he doesn't end up like Theo Van Gogh.
