"Why I Hate Blacks" Article

The article below is obviously disgusting.... I thought I'd use it to ask the question again: is this racism considering it comes from a non-white person? I think everyone would agree that it would be racist had it come from a white man, but what about in this situation? Is Eng a racist or just a person with a prejudice? I say racist, but I know that some will disagree.

'Why I Hate Blacks' Article

POSTED: 6:38 am EST February 28, 2007

SAN FRANCISCO -- This is a copy of the controversial opinion piece by Kenneth Eng in Asian Week magazine:

Here is a list of reasons why we should discriminate against blacks, starting from the most obvious down to the least obvious:

• Blacks hate us. Every Asian who has ever come across them knows that they take almost every opportunity to hurl racist remarks at us.

In my experience, I would say about 90 percent of blacks I have met, regardless of age or environment, poke fun at the very sight of an Asian. Furthermore, their activity in the media proves their hatred: Rush Hour, Exit Wounds, Hot 97, etc.

• Contrary to media depictions, I would argue that blacks are weak-willed. They are the only race that has been enslaved for 300 years. It's unbelievable that it took them that long to fight back.

On the other hand, we slaughtered the Russians in the Japanese-Russo War.

• Blacks are easy to coerce. This is proven by the fact that so many of them, including Reverend Al Sharpton, tend to be Christians.

Yet, at the same time, they spend much of their time whining about how much they hate "the whites that oppressed them."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Christianity the religion that the whites forced upon them?

• Blacks don't get it. I know it's a blunt and crass comment, but it's true. When I was in high school, I recall a class debate in which one half of the class was chosen to defend black slavery and the other half was chosen to defend liberation.

Disturbingly, blacks on the prior side viciously defended slavery as well as Christianity. They say if you don't study history, you're condemned to repeat it.

In high school, I only remember one black student ever attending any of my honors and AP courses. And that student was caught cheating.

It is rather troubling that they are treated as heroes, but then again, whites will do anything to defend them.

http://news.asianweek.com/news/

AsianWeek sincerely regrets and apologizes for publishing New York-based contributor Kenneth Eng’s column in the issue of February 23, 2007. AsianWeek rejects Eng’s biased views on a critical segment of American society, African Americans.

While AsianWeek continues to truly believe in diversity of opinion and freedom of the press, we are also very aware that the promotion of hate speech is not appropriate, nor should it be encouraged.

Given that the genesis of the American civil rights movement was borne primarily by the African American community through blood and perseverance, the failing of our editorial process in allowing this opinion piece to go forward, was an insensitive and callous mistake that should never have been made by our publication.

We will be reviewing that editorial process and making any changes necessary to prevent this from ever happening again.

The condemnation of this serious lapse in editorial judgment was rightfully taken by civic and community leaders and organizations, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Congressman Mike Honda, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

Readers of AsianWeek over the past 27-year history clearly know that we reject any racist agenda. On the contrary, our editorial policy has led the way in interracial and multicultural strength and diversity.

As a publication whose motto is the “voice of the Asian American community,” we are humbled and overwhelmed at reader response not only chastising our editorial process, but strongly urging our paper to sever all ties to this contributor. We have heard the call and Mr. Eng has been terminated from writing for the paper.

In the future, we will take extra steps to ensure that while diversity of opinion remains a constant pillar in AsianWeek editorial policy, promotion of hate speech of any kind will not and should not ever be tolerated. These steps shall be our ironclad resolve as we start anew in this auspicious Lunar New Year of the Boar

Then how in the fuck did your retarded asses allow it to be published? I'm pretty damn sure that it went past the editor(s). Retarded ass cop-out. They just didn't think it was gonna get any attention and now they're just doing what all racist bastards do and give the required lip service apology. Fuck them.

I personally think this guy is racist.

I have seen racism and prejudice pop up in many different cultures. Years ago, I had a Vietnamese roommate at camp who said her parents were angry at her sister for marrying a Chinese man. I also know and Indian girl who is afraid to tell her parents about her black boyfriend, because she knows they would disapprove. A Chinese friend of mine had to lie about her heritage in order to be invited into a Korean friend's home. I've had people of a couple different backgrounds taunt me for dating a man of Irish heritage.

Racism is not just white vs. everything else.

Exactly. The human race is wonderful, isn't it?

This Eng cat is nothing but a racist d!ckhead. His remarks about blacks & slavery show his ignorance of history. But everyone has a right to be heard. It lets me know who my enemies are.

Oh, what a shock there are racist in the world.

Most of this guy's arguments are based on when he was in high school. How old is this person, anyway? And is this indicative of the reporters that this paper hires, people who base their whole world view on what happened in their high school?

Never again, not I.

You know, I wouldn't have been as upset with the guy if he would have JUST stuck to his own personal experiences (like getting ridiculed and what not). It doesn't make it right, obviously, but at least when I hear people say, "They did me wrong, I hate them all!" I can respond with, "Well, that's your personal experience, but I can assure you, not everyone is like that." I've felt like saying that to some people on this website a few times. lol

It's the fact that this guy took it a step further that causes me to do more than roll my eyes.

What really irks my nerves is when people apologize for their feelings after the friggin fact. Don't apologize for how you feel. Dude don't like Black people, he and nobody else should have to apologize to anyone for how they feel. But be for real with your feelings. He probably hate Black folks for the same reason most other racists do, they got the "his dick bigger than mine" syndrome.

So his former girlfriend left him for a better-looking brotha and decided to justified his little broken heart by written an illogic article? A typical racist whining loser. Yawn. He has the right to say how he feel, at least I know upfront that the bastard hates blacks. Hey Mr. Eng, good luck of finding another writing job whilst you currently on unemployement line.

I thought his basis was he thought blacks hated aisans and were ignorant, in general, and that was the basis of his hate shrug

Yes, it was meant to be funny, but I don't really think that's all asians are about. I love asians. I'm part asian. I can't seem to get one to date me though

For real, don't bite the hand that feeds ya!

Having loc and short nails, I don't have to patronize them. Most of the shop owners have disrespect and disregard for their black customers, so thick you can see it oozing out of them, yet they don't see black on the green.

But like I said before, with Obama running for president, we're going to see a lot of racial issues against Blacks in the media from both coasts come up in the run up to the next election, because a nation divided against itself cannot stand and is easily manipulated into being controlled. We're a gullible cash cow. The rest of the world knows it and will profit from our ignorance.

Eng had a series of columns of the same mold. The blacks column likely ran because the similar ones against whites and Asians already had run, too.

He was a sophomoric writer, at best. His anti-whites column was just as stupid and poorly written.

I think the true crime is that AsianWeek felt the need to employ such a hack. If I were Eng's former editor, I would be worried about the angles, accuracy and substance of the other stories he had contributed.

He doesn't strike me as too bright a bulb. And, unfortunately in many newsrooms, that is exactly the kind of person who is given a long leash and the license to write such garbage -- until too many people complain.

yeah it seemed like an example to show how ridiculous the writer of the article assumptions were.
