is the "old prince"returning?

last night i watched some photos of prince in concert in rome and ive been reading some reviews of his concerts which are all good, but i notice he brought back the old bass drum containing the name "prince" fron the "dirty mind"era and also it seems to me he show a bit of his body also the one photo of him on top of the piano near renato, and then some audience member were saying he was doing some stuff on stage so im wondering .....has he gave up on the jehovah witness and gone back to the "rude boy"era of 1980-82 era or is this a sign of things to come?

I hope so! I mean, it doesn't need to be Dirty Mind type stuff, I just want him to stop being such a stiff.

I think he might be coming to terms with his past. I don't think he's going to be reverting back to when he was 21. Cat Stevens put down the guitar for 25 years when he went through his religious education, and there he was with Ozzy Osbourne at the Jon Stewart rally last week, just two British guys having a fun time in DC.

Do actors who practice JW curse in movies, because the script calls for it, or do they wind up having to turn down roles because it doesn't go with their beliefs? Do people who practice it not allow themselves to sing certain words because it goes against their beliefs, or do they write it off as a character?

And there's nothing to stop Prince from creating new music by "stealing" from himself, bringing up sounds from the past into 2010 and beyond. U2 have done it and people have enjoyed it. Nothing wrong with a little flavor from the past.

Prince is writing "Prince" - or "J.B." (for John Blackwell) on the drums during the concerts, he is grabbing a spray-painter whatever that bottle is called in english..... spraying those names in red.

Yes this little gimmick reminds me of the Dirty Mind tour. wink

a)the 20ten cd(reverting back to the 80's)

b)the red spray paint name "prince"on the drum set(dirty mind era)

c)showing more "sexyness" on stage more now...

Yeah, spray painting his name on a kick drum is a sure sign he's a tick away from playing Head.

All you need to know is:

- He's closer to 60 than 40.

- He's a Jehovah's Witness.

Old Prince indeed.

To be honest, Prince has been like this for a while. At the O2 Prince was still considered being a 'little' Naughty on stage, and the spray can gag was used on the last night. Prince wrote 21 on the back of his Shirt in red Spray Paint!

The old Prince would be playing full length songs, and not letting Female Background singers take so much time on lead vocals. The old Prince would NOT BE PLAYING TONS OF FU**ING COVER SONGS. Seeing Prince can sometimes be like watching Michael Jordan on one foot....you can see the immense talent, but something is wrong.

Even the old Prince couldn't play Let's Go Crazy after the Purple Rain tour without ruining the arrangement...

Still...the Prince we have now is better than anybody else out there, just very frustrating that perhaps the world's best talent lowers the quality of his performance seemingly on purpose. If U2 had 10 percent of Prince's talent, they would be on the cover of Time Magazine weekly, but they don't. If Prince had 75% of U2's business sense from 1984-present, and the mental ability to play full length versions of songs with himself on lead vocals, Prince would be bigger than U2 and The Beatles combined.

Now, I almost feel like a fan of some underground artist nobody really knows about.

It all comes out in the wash, in time.

Prince has not played that song in awhile, but he has definitely played it since becoming a Jehovah's Witness.

i just think he must be in a good mood at the moment, having fun on his tour, & the drums, frills & lace stuff is a nod to the past, celebrating & embracing it to a degree. at milan he said something about loving all his songs...

i'm not sure the risque behaviour is that unusual cuz i remember a couple of incidents at montreaux which had me omg

he gets caught up in the moment, inspired by the mood of the song, i cannot see him ever doing 'head' in a hurry, he wouldn't control himself (shame)

but there's still hope 4 belguim 2night... he's delivered on the shirt which has been a lovely treat, but doing some head would be amazing fun, please prince PLEASE give belguim head..u don't have to sing, let the girls sing if it helps! if anything do it 4 'Intense'!

He certainly knows how to keep people guessing, doesn't he?

I still remember a very extended almost instrumental version of Head during a 1982 1st Avenue show, at this moment I would love that

He did play an instruemental version of Erotic City at the LotusFlower site party
