Well, actually, I've never heard Prince being played by a DJ without asking, but when I go and ask them for Prince's song they usually say : 'Prince? Sure, always!' and it is most often 'Cream' and 'Kiss'. And yeah, people dance for Prince! Really, they do! smile I love these moments! smilesmile

P-Control! And not a butt in their seats.

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Last time was a few months ago - they played "Kiss."

Last time I heard a contemporary song (i.e. a song prince wrote in the last 15 years) was Pussy Control in 2006.

In LA thursday night, a club is playing all prince music.

The DJ was in the middle of a neo-soul set and played "Ballad of Dorothy Parker"....oldheads there were like "oh shit!" and jumped up
Younger crowd kept dancing and knew it was Prince....
That song is timeless....

I heard some of the unauthorized house mixes of Prince songs right near the end of my serious club-going years. Other than that, never. I didn't go to those kind of clubs or I probably would have heard them all the time, though.

and that my purple friends is why P needs to let GOOD remixers loose on his hits or current trax. He's old and has NO ear for a younger crowds tastes anymore. Listen in the usual places for some cool remixes, burn 'em and given to the DJ!

I'd love to see a room full of people try to stay dancin' on the beat to that one. Especially the snare fills. lol

I used to bounce in a few clubs and bars in Boston. Heard Erotic City once or twice, one time mixed with White Horse. Had to maintain my bouncer-ly composure but I dug it!

Became pretty good friends with one of the weekly DJs, gave him that house remix of Dance 4 Me. he spun it once or twice.

BTW, I do dig that remix.

You're assuming an awful lot in regards to people being able to FIND the two and four. lol

I'm a couple years beyond the "young one" category, but I DJ in the (gay) clubs in my town, so my young ones get regular doses of Prince, mainly the major hits. The key is mixing it up and leading in with something modern they like; usually they'll stay on the dance floor for the Prince followup. For example:

- Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" into "When Doves Cry."

- Varied combinations of Britney's "I'm a Slave 4 U", Khia's "My Neck, My Back" and "Kiss" always work nicely together.

(Although I did this one too many times. Once, when the guitar riff to Kiss came in, someone screamed "Argh! Not again!!!" Someone yelled in reply, "Shut up, you know you like it!")

- A lot of college-age straight girls come in and ask for "P Control" but really, the gays don't seem to care for it.

- I like to close with "1999" sometimes. By that time, they're all drunk anyways! smile

I've never heard Prince playing in a club unless he was either there or it was the turn of the millennium.

Where I do hear him loads (and I'm sure he'd be horrified) is the Jumblesale formerly known as Primarks as I'm being dragged around (Guitar, Black Sweat, Purple Rain) and the supermarket (TMBGITW, Kiss, The Word, Te A piloshit) plus once at a football game before kickoff...proper football, not American football whete feet play a minimal part (Let's go crazy)

At a friend's wedding 3 weeks ago, the DJ played Kiss and alot of people got up for it and later on When Doves Cry and only my girlfriend and I was up giving it big moves, we were even doing the moves from the video.....and getting some real weird looks from the crowd.

Living in Glasgow, I probably have less chance of hearing him than most on here.

However, over the past few years, I've heard Fury in one of the pubs I was drinking in, I was dancing away to Justin Timblerlake's Sexyback when the DJ went straight into Kiss, and I also heard Black Sweat played in a club here once.

Like purpledoveuk above, I hear the odd song in shops or supermarkets as well.

So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?
