Britney Spears....a Greatest Hits cd?! How?! Why?! Spears to start family and quit singing?
29/06/2004 - 18:39:55 Pop beauty Britney Spears has decided to give up her singing career to become a full-time housewife, according to her pals. The Toxic star - who is rumoured to be three months pregnant - is set to marry dancer Kevin Federline later this year and plans a greatest hits album to mark the end of her showbiz lifestyle before devoting herself to her new family. A friend of Spears tells British newspaper the Daily Sport: "She's planned a greatest hits album to come out just before her wedding. Then that will be it. It will be a reminder for her fans and provide a nice little nest egg for her future family. "She's been in show-business since she was 11 so she really needs a rest and a chance to be a normal wife and mother." Spears is so excited about her engagement to dancer Kevin Federline, she's already met with a wedding planner. But according to America's Star magazine, Spears has been pressing ahead with plans, setting the wedding date for 20 November, with 200 guests, five bridesmaids and five groomsmen. One of the few factors reportedly left undecided on the matter is whether the couple will wed in Los Angeles or Spears' native Louisiana. * Ok,everybody (even those that hate her) knows about the marriage and possible pregnancy. But she has really lost her mind.... a Greatest hits?! I thought you had to qualify "professionally" for at least 10 years to have a fuckin' greatest hits cd? Hopefully, this'll be the death of her career. Make room for those who truely deserve a record deal and the spotlight. Trust me....there won't be anything so "great" about her greatest hits. Britney's going to retire???? Man, this should be in the Politics & Religion forum, since it proves the existence of a loving, merciful God!! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

we'll see how many weeks this "retirement" lasts. once a fame addict, always a fame addict, i say...

considering her biggest selling point was her dancing...and she probably won't be able to do that too much now that her knee has been broken...she is probably doing the right thing. the business takes its toll on you and she's probably had enough. she's made her money and she's been incredibly successful...much more successful in that industry than you or i. if she is calling it a day then it is probably the best decision for her. though i kind of think this retirement of sorts was probably forced on her due to her injury, which is really sad.
as for peeps saying her career was over anyway...hello? are you awake? her tour was sold out in many cities and her cd certainly sold a helluva lot for someone who is "over". whateva, treva.

A Britney's Greatest Hits CD might be something I would buy and hide in the back of the closet so no one would ever see it.

It would make a great coaster! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

A tour sold out, wehich should have been named Playbackshow with Britney!!! The fact she has to stop coz she can't dance anymore, is also the prove that this is the only thing she CAN do... Plus the kiddies who liked her are growing older now, so they notice her fake artist thing also... yep it is over... and what else is new? the beautiful ones, you always seem to loose

It would make a great coaster! But then people would see it if they came over and asked for a drink.

You're really taking this seriously? You really think Britney's going to settle down and do the whole wife-and-mother bit? I give this marriage about a month - and then Britney will be crying on Oprah.

See, the pathetic thing is Lucky, Not A Girl, I Love Rock & Roll and Overprotected can hardly be called hits (at least in the U.S., which I assume is the primary market she's targeting with this album).

Lucky was a Top 30 hit in the states as far as i remember and a Top 5 in the UK You can also add: "Born To Make You Happy" (#1 UK) "From the Bottom Of My Broken Heart" (Top 20 US) "Stronger" (#7 UK, #11 US) "Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know (#12 UK) "Boys" (#7 UK) I'm not a Britney fan but I am a chart's fan. I don't think that Britney will stick to her decision but if she does it's a shame because her last two singles were really good (although I didn't like "Everytime" initially it kind of grew on me).

I really like Britney to the point where I just might pick up a greatest hits if she releases one but I think she is out of her damn mind to leave the business (monkey business, that is) for that sleaze ball. The men in her life just seem to get more cromagnon everytime!
