Fleetwood Mac without Christine McVie---are the concerts still worthwhile?

Fleetwood Mac performed in my area a few nights ago,but I wasn't able to go.As much as I would have loved to have seen them,I'm sure I would have been a little disappointed that Chrsitine McVie isn't touring with them.My favorite Fleetwood Mac songs are the ones where she is singing lead ("Say That You Love Me"...."You Make Loving Fun"..."As Long As You Follow"..."Everywhere"),and she was such a huge part of the band, writing many of their best songs. It's hard to imagine them touring without her.To those of you who have seen a recent show,do they still perform those songs? With Stevie Nicks singing lead? I wonder if Christine will re-join the band for a future tour/album.It seems that, every few years, one member announces their departure. Then,a few years later, that person comes back...lol...has Christine said that she is permanently leaving the band?

In any case, looks like Christine is moving on with her solo career. Her new CD 'In The Meantime' drops on September 7.Here is the tracklist...

Anything Is Possible
You Are
Northern Star
Bad Journey
Friend
Calumny
So Sincere
That's The Way It Is
Liar
Sweet Revenge
Forgiveness
Giving It Back

Any other Christine McVie fans out there? lol

Personally I've no idea. But I've heard good things about the tour. Both Lindsey and Stevie have star power and work well with each other. Whether Christine returns to the Mac is uncertain. Apparantly she wanted to contribute to the album but refused the tour. Therefore it was decided that it would be better if she sat this one out. Hopefully they'll resolve the problem next time around because she is missed by a lot of fans. Her new album's pretty good, too. I don't think there will be any hits from it but it's a pleasant listen. smile

i really didn't miss christine at all. to be perfectly honest, i was glad she wasn't there because it gave lindsey and stevie more time to perform their material, lol! there's only a handful of christine tracks i like (over and over, oh daddy, and maybe one or two others)...i am just not crazy about her voice. besides, the chemistry between stevie and lindsey is intense on this tour and i think part of that is due to the fact that they are the main duo on stage. the tour was fantastic...i'm only sad that they added sara and a few other seldomly performed songs to their setlist but had to cancel the show in chicago (story of my life, this summer, with canceled concerts, lol).

davideye, you should definitely take mrtation's advice and pick up that dvd, you won't be disappointed. well, i mean, you'll be disappointed that you didn't go to the show but not with the dvd, lol!

I love Christine McVie!

Her contributions to the band are among my favorite. I love the album TUSK maily because "Over & Over" and "Think About Me" pretty much kicked off that amazing album. Her songs are very strong, melodic, heartfelt. "Songbird", "You Make Loving Fun" are also classics in my book.

I did'nt see them this year but I did get the LIVE IN BOSTON DVD/CD and of what I saw was fantastic. They don't sing any of her songs but Lindsey and Stevie are in top form and they genuinely seem so happy to be singing again. If you ask me, Lindsey just gets better looking with age.

I do hope Christine comes back to the band at some point...in which I will pay whatever amount to go see them. For now I just have to await her solo record that my friend from Koch Records (US distributor releasing the project) has promised I'd get an advance. That will be for me the ultimate headphones, wine, candles evening!
Every minute of last night is on my face today....

Why did they cancel the Chicago show?

because apparently there is some 2004 summer concert law that states any show i have tickets to must get canceled. lol and sad

i think the reason they gave was something about an illness...but i know the truth...wink

eh, i'm much happier with a bunch of lindsey and stevie songs. what i don't understand...and i mean no disrespect to christine...is why in the hell lindsey buckingham could not get a solo record released but christine mcvie can! the only way lindsey could get his material out was if he rejoined the mac and released it through them. pretty shitty for someone with his talents!
