A joke:
How many drummers does it take to screw in a light bulb? Two: one to screw it in, and one to say much better Neil Peart could have done it. | |

For me it is
ANY of Frank Zappa's drummers My favs of his would be Ansley Dunbar Ralph Humphries Terry Bozio also Mitch Mitchell!!! -Jimi Hendrix Experience and John Blackwell is a muther fucker on the drums!! I have been trying to learn what i can from him lately, not that fancy stick twirling stuff tho. Although, not in the same league as those I have mentioned, I have also been influenced by Chad Smith of Red Hot Chilli Peppers. When I was 13, I was all about Tony Thompson on the Powerstation album. and when I was 8 I loved playing along with my Styx albums so I guess I would have to give it uo to John Panozzo. As a kid I learned how to play drums by playing along with my Beatles records. Good ol Ringo. Although most of my infuences are rock based, I would say that Jazz drummers are "the best". I am just waaaay to lazy to study Jazz drumming so i just pick up what i can from Jazz. A final note: The most boring modern drummer has to be Larry Mullen Jr. of U2!
