A good album, it's a grower.
LOST seems to be the most hypnotitzing, brain-draining song since PORNOGRAPHY. can't get that one out of my head. ALT.END sounds like SEVENTEEN SECONDS transported into the new millennium. And even that sound from the beginning of many songs of DISINTEGRATION and WISH is back again (in GOING NOWHERE). Many elements from older works, rounded up well, flowing beautifully together. Of course the lyrics are often just variations, but who cares? It's a new CURE album! It's THE CURE - right title. Also I can't wait for the remastered versions of the older stuff that has been annouced some time ago, with extra CD's etc. I'm so happy it could kill me.

I don't really know how to do that. I have listened though and they're pretty great. If you fuck around with the links you can get demos of: Before Three, Fake, Never, Going Nowhere and This Morning as well. All very promising.

Not sure. It took me all day to get 'em. Normally I would open the songs on Windows Media Player first and then save them, but I now just right mouse clicked on the titles in the briefcase directly. Now it downloads faster. All of them at the same time, hehehe.

I finally tracked down those extra 4 songs and man, was it worth it!
I just burned a disc in the order of the vinyl with all 15 songs and it really rounds out the album. Robert mentioned that 37 songs were demoed for the album and of those, 20 were finished and considered for inclusion on the release. He broke it down into categories. There are 5 super heavy songs, 5 pop, 5 strange ones and 5 that are sad and beautiful. It seems as though he focused on the heavy and pop for the American release. All 4 of these extras fall under the sad, beautiful definition. "Going Nowhere" is a stunner. Very slow and pianoey. Sort of like if Seventeen Seconds was brought into the present. "Fake" is like a Wish era b-side along the lines of "Play" or "Scared As You". "Truth, Goodness & Beauty" is unique among Cure songs. I can't think of anything to compare it to. and "This Morning" makes a gorgeous closer. If anything can come after "The Promise", it's this. Snag these if you can. They're wonderful.

Wow, those demos are BRILLIANT, you can hear so much more of the instrumentation, the songs are really really well done. I like this extended version of "Going Nowehre" very much with that sweet piano-sound.
thx for sharing. | |
