Man,this song just totally moves me like you wouldn't believe! It sounds so dreamy and wistful, and it makes me sad when I hear it.Something about that melody just kills me!

biggrin Yeah, I love that tune! But what's really sad is that the "Every Generation" album is one of the few Ronnie Laws albums that never got reissued on CD!!

biggrin It's funny - I know The first Headhunters is one of Herbie's most popular, But I swear, I hear more people talking about Butterfly(originally from Thrust album(74)) than any of his other tunes--Even Henry Mancini(!) did a version of this tune ( On His Album, Symphonic Soul--I Shit you Not!!)

biggrin I think "HeadHunters" is more popular because of the ridiculously funky "Chameleon" , but "Thrust" is every bit as essential.

Good list, tho I don't really know the stuff very well.

Maiden Voyage -- Herbie Hancock

Hecho a Mano -- Chano Dominguez

Bebel Gilberto -- Bebel Gilberto

Mingus Ah Um -- Charles Mingus

So, are Bebel's records pretty good? Is She carrying on her parent's tradition?

She's updated the bossa nova sound somewhat with ambient/nu jazz influences, but she has acquitted herself very well. The new album is good, but Tanto Tempo is better.
