Which Are Your Favourite Unique Voices Björk
Tom Waits Ray Charles Cyndi Lauper Barry White Macy Gray Britney Spears Nick Cave Michel'le (speaking voice I guess) What are some unique voices that you like or even dislike? Any that stand out above all others? I remember hearing rumours that Michel'le's voice was an "act". Anyone else hear that, or know the truth behind it? Any others I've forgotten to mention please add. "C" NOT "K" edit! [This message was edited Mon Jun 21 8:58:27 2004 by Chico1]

Unigue as in different..not as in stellar! Yeah, I know. Different? Just like every other breathy-voiced teen girl, I guess. Anyway, I've always loved the frog in Stevie Nicks' throat.

Mahalia Jackson:
Hers were the 1st vocal performances I heard (record). Ella Fitzgerald: 1st jazz vocal performance heard (record). Marian Anderson: The 1st professional vocal performance heard (live) This treasured trinity of "unique" female voices from my youth, 1 from gospel/jazz/classical music, remains seared into my subconscious to this day. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. I think Belinda Carlisle does as well. Though she and Stevie Nicks have been compared.
Anastacia stands out...but then again there's the Taylor Dayne comparison. Peter Gabriel ? I think so.

What she up to these days? according to her website, she's playing at the Blue Note. Check this out though; I read this article about her from http://www.clinicalsocial...akitt.html, and they claim that she has "MPD, multiple personality disorder or some variant of MPD." then he goes on to say "Watch her dissociate, look at her having a conversation with herself, and listen to the changes in her voice...In the television interview, she spoke of being abused as a child and if I recall correctly her voice changed to that of a small child at one point in the conversation. As the interviewer asked her questions, it was evident to me that she was listening to an internal dialogue before answering some of his questions." definitely read the section on her childhood. It's touching... "Pedro offers you his protection."
