No.
When i was a little kid I loved michael jackson and hated madonna because her songs were boring and she talked shit aboout michael. Now I am no longer a michael jackson fan, i´m 21 years old and I still hate her. she was cute back in the days, by the way. she is more like a sexual beast then a artist. Her Zen phase is kidna forced, she was not born to meditate she was born to F..C.. oh well nevermind

No. Madonna. Esther - that just blows my mind. Did she not read "The History Of Name Changes and How It Affects Your Fanbase" by Prince? The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3

She's not changing her name professionally -- nor personally.
"In her Kabbalah world, the leaders may call her that during spiritual services," said her spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg.
"But while we still bow to her, we don't call her Queen Esther," Rosenberg joked, referring to the Book of Esther in the Old Testament, which tells of the Jewish wife of the king of Persia. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

So Michael Jackson is "eccentric" but Madonna is an idiot. Ok then.

Madonna's not an idiot. It's just that (in my opinion, anyway) as a pop culture icon and entertainer, she's losing touch.

....and yet she has the highest-grossing tour of the year. I don't know why people are going so nuts over this. So she wants to be called Esther in private - why does that matter, exactly? It's not like Warners is gonna have to reprint all her discs and promo material with "Esther" in place of "Madonna" - you won't have to go buy an "Esther" CD. Prince has done way more eccentric stuff but he isn't an idiot.

Not you, just in general I think people are blowing this out of proportion. We're on a prince.org message board. "Changing" your name to Esther hardly warrants the catcalls of "idiocy", etc. that people are flinging about with glee. Guess a lot of people here just don't like Madonna - when Prince does it, it's ok. [This message was edited Fri Jun 18 14:28:38 2004 by VoicesCarry]

....and yet she has the highest-grossing tour of the year. Maybe. I'll bet more people will be seeing Prince for less money per ticket and getting a better show in the bargain. Andthatsayswhat?

She said on the 20/20 interview that Esther is merely her Hebrew name - she's not altering her name officially.

People just love to diss celebritys. I don't get it. I never want to be famous. To have all of your personal shit out there for everybody to know and criticise must be really difficult.

Prince can change his name to a question mark if he wants, it will be cool cause he is Prince. Madonna is a no talent jerk. He and mike patton.
She is wrong even when her mouth is shut. she and britney. [This message was edited Sat Jun 19 5:50:42 2004 by 7salles]

It's so funny the way the media blows things out of proportion.Madonna did NOT change her name. All of her future CDs and concerts will continue to be billed as "Madonna".She has said that "Esther" is just her Hebrew name, and that she hasn't changed her name officially. But I guess it's more fun to believe everything the media reports...

....and yet she has the highest-grossing tour of the year. This is still funny to me. Especially now that "Inside Edition" even reported that Madonna's ticket sales are slow. Plus, her tickets are hella expensive. She can sell out one show and be the highest-grossing tour of the summer, because the majority of the tours this summer are $100 or less. If her tickets were around the same price as every other tour ($50 to $100), then I would be giving her props for being the highest-grossing tour. This is like saying Mercedes has the highest sales over Ford, Hyndai, or Mazda. Of course they do, a Benz costs 10 times more than the most expensive model of any of these cars, so of course they are going to have higher grosses. Let's compare her show to other tours that had $100+ ticket prices and she would probably be at the bottom of the list. SPREAD LOVE UNTIL THE SUN'S FINAL RISE--The Duality a.k.a. "WYNTER SKYE"

Lower prices would only mean a lot more fans could go (I, for one, couldn't afford it this time around). People PAY a lot for a Benz, much as they're willing to PAY a lot for Madonna. Enough said. Any of the pop stars of today couldn't justify those prices to their fans.

The only reason I can see that her show costs soo much is because of all the equipment and spectacle involved, but Britney's show is just as elaborate, and her tickets are $50 to $100. No, Madonna "justifies" the price to her FANS because she's WORTH seeing. People wouldn't pay $300 for Britney, but they will for Madonna. You see what I'm saying?

I love how the thread says she's an idiot and everyone goes for the name change.
The recent interview did it for me. I wonder if money makes your brain run out of your ear when you sleep, maybe at like 2 million.
