I see here below that your point was that they were the first to merge funk and rock. To me Sly did more than that, sorry, I missed your point. blackguitaristz said:
Sly and The Family Stone were responsible 4 merging funk and rock. They weren't the first (the Chambers Bros. are ALWAYS overlooked), but they did it most successfully at that time. This may be the reason why they're overlooked
This may be the reason YOU overlook them.[/quote] Yeah, it's just me that's never heard of them, I'm sure they're album sales tell the story. Your knowledge of music is really impressive, maybe you should write a book.

I'm just saying they were doing it prior to Sly & The Family Stone, whereas some people think Sly & Company were the first. Yeah, it's just me that's never heard of them, I'm sure they're album sales tell the story. Your knowledge of music is really impressive, maybe you should write a book.
Didn't say that either. It's highly superficial to confuse being a pioneer of a genre with album sales. Writing a book is best left to those who can't play it. ` [This message was edited Wed Jun 23 10:57:51 2004 by Supernova] This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.
