Did MJ mime the HIStory tour?

I was listening to a boot of MJ live on the HIStory tour in Seoul, and I thought to myself what an incredible peformer he must be, that he sounds exactly like the record when he plays live. Then I picked up another boot of HIStory live in Kuala Lumpur, and it sounded EXACTLY the same as the Seoul version. And when he shifted into improvisation between songs "HOOOOO!" the sound quality of his voice got WAY worse. confused Surely a professional like him doesn't mime. The Dangerous and Bad tours definetely weren't mimed. Does anyone know anything about this?

What i read was that MJ really sang the whole show but had a tape rolling along from time to time. Combination of both it seems.
It was not in vain...it was in Minneapolis!

I thought it was common knowledge that he mimed most of the time.

By the way, I'm a fan, not trying to diss Michael here.

"Dangerous" tour was definately mostly mimed as was "History" tour minus adlibs!

A real shame as on "Bad" tour (and every other tour before that) he was live and sounded fantastic!

Doesn't he lip sync often? Hasn't he been doing this for years now?

HIStory tour - 90% lip synch
Dangerous tour (second half) - 50% lip synch due to throat problems
Dangerous tour (first half) - 20% lip synch
Bad tour (second leg) - 5% lip synch
Bad Tour (first leg) - 0% lip synch

i have boot videos of dangerous in bucharest, bad in nyc and history. its much more evident on the dangerous tour and history tour that he is lip syncing. the bad tour is a bit more subtle. he sings a lot but there is a clip track running as well and there are quite a few moments where he is definitely not singing. its typical of singer/dancer type performers.

Is your Bad tour in NYC a private or professional recording? Is it the full concert? I have a few songs professionaly filmed on video from one of the Bad tour shows at MSG in bad quality.

Here's a question - since he lip syncs so much & most of his show is about his dancing & crap, why in the bloody hell do you people collect bootlegs of his shows?? whofarted What's worth hearing on them? lol

i don't collect bootlegs on michael. i just love to watch him dance. since he's not on tv much anymore and since he rarely performs live, whenever i feel like watching mj i just pop in one of these three videos. i would never buy an audio boot of him though.

I have Bad In Japan 1987 on DVD(you can buy on ebay.com) it is 100% live. I've also got Dangerous in Bucharest 1992 60% live and I have HIStory in Munich 1997 40% live

Because he is the best performer/entertainer/dancer ever lived. And he is also one of Popular Music's most inspirational voices and songwriters. Thats why wink

Yeah you probably have the second leg, second leg had some of them mimed. As u may already know Bad Tour was the biggest world tour ever made so at the last few dates he had throat problems.

The one I have is first legs first concert. Mine is in Japan Yokohoma. I wanna get Bad in Wembley UK, it is considered as his best ever performance.

no, this is definitely the first leg. i usually wouldn't know these thngs but there is no smooth criminal on my video and from what i understand, he added smooth criminal on the 2nd leg after it was released as a single.

Mj gets winded with all the dancing and his singing gets disrupted thats why he always has a tape to back it up
90% of history was most likely was mimed

I have an Audio one from the Bad tour in Japan (his first solo gig) that's soundboard and most definately live. I've downloaded ones from later tours but they end up in the recycle bin due to the obvious lip synching.

I did something similar, i went to the first night at Wembley for MJ and saw P shortly after @ the arena. i was on a high for about a year after! Easily the two best performers and gigs i ever saw IMO.

waw2002

you guys are so lucky.

I get to see Prince live (luckily)

But I doubt I'll ever see MJ (my favortie singer) live, because he never does any concerts anymore... even though he said he wishes he could live on stage.
