"Snoop Dogg to play MILES?"

"I'm supposed to be playing a trumpet player that Fellini met when he came (to the United States) in 1957. It's a cold role, and actually it's going to set up my Miles Davis film. I am going to become Miles Davis. That's a role I could sink my teeth into. He was a great musician and he has an undertone people don't know about. I'd like to do for Miles Davis what Denzel did for Malcolm X. Americans love jazz music, they love Miles Davis, so why not let Snoop Dogg play him?"

Hey, flip it...now, you're the one making the film:

You know the public isn't gonna see it if you don't get
a BIG star to play the lead role. It's all about $$$
in Hollywood.

Who would you get?
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Definitely not Snoop, he can't even act whofarted

Isaiah Washington is my top of the head thought but I know he's not "big"... Casting should be driven by talent, not popularity neutral I need a minute to think of someone both "big" and GOOD... hmmm

Um, a black actor who can act the shit out of the role. There are many of them besides Denzel Washington. So underrated.

Let this marinate for a couple of days to see if it is true, i.e. Snoop begins to brag about his scoop of the role. If he does begin promoting it, and the movie actually is green lighted and starts production, ponder these two choices!! One, stay calm and quietly boycott the film or SCCCREEEEEAMMMMM AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS

"I"M MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!!!!"

For heaven's sake, Snoop is no box office attraction and the studio who would back this should have their licences revoked.

You would think, but how in the world did a piece of shit like The Wash get made? Never saw it, wouldn't dare, but somebody thought Snoop & Dre in a movie sounded good. How did that latest load of excrement Soul Plane get made? Hell, Snoop just hosted Saturday Night Live so somebody likes his ass lol It wouldn't surprise me @ all if a studio greenlit a film based on Snoop's supposed appeal. ill

The Wash is kinda' funny in a very base and "ghetto" way.It plays to Snoop's strengths so it is believable. Snoop will not be playing Miles Davis unless it's a movie solely based on the times when Miles just sat in a room in a chair stoned as hell with his eyes half closed and silent.Other than that...fuhgetaboutit.No serious studio would try to make a movie like that with Snoop playing the character.

Snoop is popular because he personifies alot of stereotypes and makes alot of money off of suburban white kids w/loads of cash to spend.I think he's even big in Hong Kong.

Laurence Fishburne should lose weight and play Jimi and Andre Brauer(sp?) or one of the other very brilliant and underrated black actors should play Miles. And I may be proven wrong, but I still don't think Andre will be a good Jimi.We have to worry who will play Prince next.

Laurence would be an awesome Jimi but I think he's a little up there in age now - too bad sad

This makes me sick. I can't believe that anyone is allowing this low-life thug to play a master musician such as Miles. The movie will suck and I for one will never see it as I can't stand the sight of Snoop Dog! It will probably be no better than Soul Plane.

Wow, I'm so glad you guys are feelin' me on this. I mean, when you look at Don's filmography you'll only see a handful of really good movies, but his performances in movies and television in general are awesome. I don't dislike Snoop, I actually think he's kinda funny and I dig his aloof personality, but I would love to see an important musical icon like Miles handled by a pro like Don.

You took the words out of my mouth.

I worship before Zod. boxed Couldn't resist. Why the wink, though?

Snoop doesn't have the right look and can't act. Fishburne as Hendrix is even less appropriate. He's not that good.

nod Fishburne is great. When he was younger and slimmer (in Apocalypse Now),he couldve played Jimi.

I'll say it again : He was BRILLIANT in "Othello" (1995)

Jimi could've played himself back then. falloff

Seriously though. I just don't care for the guy. Besides, Jimi had a certain something I just haven't seen from Larry. If he could pull it off he'd have to be a GREAT fuckin' actor.
