Take your choice: Parliament or Funkadelic? (current votes 11:7) absurd question? maybe... but let's assume for moment a burglar breaks in your home and takes most of your records, including all your P-Funk items. However, he has mercy and let's you keep EITHER all Parliament OR all your Funkadelic albums... what would be your pick?
tuff choice but I would go for Parliament in the end my prediction? most orgers around will probably decide in favour of Funkadelic - result edit- [This message was edited Sun May 30 1:45:26 2004 by Dancelot] Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. Parliament.
Then I'd just replace my Funkadelic recordings after being burglarized. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Funkadelic is kind of more my style, but I think the Parliament records are better.
I choose Parliament. Check this song out at:

If you do your research you would find out that. When they were with Motown and decided to leave they had to change their name because Motown owned the rights to their name and music. George will always be P-Funk no matter what.

I understand that, but with you saying "they're the same band" implies that their sound and approach to music is the same. Clearly Funkadelic was more rock-oriented and loose whereas Parliament was more commerical and R&B/funk-related.

I really don't think it had a lot or rock to it.

So I guess Parliament were actually a legislative assembly from Great Britian who were posing as a funk band, huh? Interesting. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

I would have to go with Parliament, when it comes to albums, 'cause they were just a little more consistent.
If I had to choose between Parliament's Greatest Hits and Funkadelic's Greatest Hits, however, I'd have to say Funkadelic.

for me parliament by far. i much preferred the horn section, to the electronics. ------------------------------------------------

I realize I'm ducking the question, but my answer is neither Parlaiment nor Funkadelic, but instead Clinton's 1982 solo album Computer Games.

(Not Just) Knee Deep was the song, so Funkadelic gets my vote. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

Well, I'm white. And terminally unfunky. So I'd go with Funkadelic. I guess I prefer those crazy guitars to the crazy horns and keyboards. Plus I think overall Funkadelic released more consistently great albums than Parliament. But I do have one question. Could I keep Osmium. It's not really Parliament is it?
