Favorite Male Vocalists

anybody got any all-time favorites? here's my roll-call:

Marvin Gaye (My all time favorite)

Ronald Isley (Favorite living singer)

Al Green (right up there next to Ron)

Donnie Hathaway (second all-time favorite)

Al Jarreau ( Mr Versatility)

Stevie Wonder (Even though I'm not crazy about the higher register he always sings in now, He's Still the Man!!)

Prince ('Nuff Said)

Jeffrey Osborne (Even if "Love Ballad" were the only thing he'd done, he would still be in my top 10)

Frankie Beverly (Wish I could be that laid-back)

Maurice White (he's pretty much lost it now, but back in the Day, I thought he had the coolest voice around!!)

Luther Vandross (the Quintessential vocalist)

Michael Mcdonald (can't understand a word he's sayin', but Damn!)

Bobby Womack ( If Ya Think you're Lonely Now...)

Walt Williams (probably the most famous voice no one knows, usually Lead singer in the O'Jays, with Eddie Levert usually on second lead vocals)

Phil Perry (not well known, but still one of the most soulful vocalists around)

Lenny Williams ("Oh-Oh Oh".... seriously, when are he and Tower Of Power gonna hook up again?)

Kenny Loggins (Stop laughin'!! wink Actually, this is for soulful albums like Celebrate Me Home and Leap Of Faith, not that "Danger Zone" Crap!!)

Cuba Gooding(Sr.)-( Don't know 'bout his son, but this dude tore it up as lead singer of the Main Ingredient)

Bobby McFerrin (when he's actually singing songs, he's a force to be reckoned with...)

Teddy Pendergrass (for Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes as well as his solo work)

Sam Cooke (with a voice that could be smooth as silk or rockin' with fire)

Nat King Cole (the Master...)

Tony Bennett ( I actually like him better than Frank, but that's just me...)

He's not one of my favorites, but I was surprised nobody mentioned him, too.

Prince (favorite since I 1st heard him in 1983. I suspect he'll be #1 for forever)
Kevin Max - WHY don't more people know about him/listen to him!?! He sounds like a cross between Freddie Mercury and Jim Morrison. I LOVE his voice.
Nat King Cole - smooth personified
George Michael - from Wham to Patience, he's so nice to listen to...
Freddie Mercury - what pipes!
Morrissey - when most people sing, their accents disappear but I love how you can still catch his
Bono
John Lennon - his vocals made The Beatles, in my humble opinion

Prince, Bowie, Nick Cave, Kenna, James Brown, Sly, Joey Ramone, David Byrne, Damon Albarn, all the Beatles (even Ringo, though moreso John and George - gotta be in the mood for Paul's pipes), Johnny Cash bow , Robert Smith, John Lydon and a few I'm sure I'm forgetting.

John Lennon goes without saying, really - listen to Julia or anything from the Plastic Ono Band album (esp. God). You won't find finer singing anywhere.
