Madonna says her tour will be an "assault on the senses"

Well, the 're-Invention Tour' kicks off on Monday,so let's use this thread to disccus the latest updates, rumors and setlists. We'll start with a new article from the Sun.Not sure how reliable they are,but this is what they're reporting.

When fans go to see Madonna this summer, they will see...

***Her being "frazzled" in an electric chair

***Simulated steamy lesbian sex as Madonna tangos with a female dancer during "Die Another Day"

***A parade of scantily-clad pregnant women as she sings "Papa Don't Preach"

***After her performance of "Lament" from 'Evita',the stage will be plunged into darkness. There will be a thunderous display of fireworks to reveal her strapped in the electric chair.

***Her performance of "American Life" will be a big anti-war statement. The sound of bombs dropping will be linked with onstage video footage of troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

***During her performance of John Lennon's "Imagine",she will break down in tears in front of pictures of starving children.

***While singing "Bedtime Story",Madonna will be seen "rising from the dead".

***a source adds "This show will make people's hair stand on end.Madonna has pulled out all the stops to make it her most controversial yet.The electric chair scene is breathtaking".

and from a supposedly "reliable source"...

*** The show starts with "Vogue".The arrangement is more modern but still very similar to the original song.

***"Imagine" sounds beautiful.Very simple with a dramatic, electronic slow beat.

***She sings one of her 90s dance hits in a jazzy way ("Deeper And Deeper"?)

***"Into The Groove" starts with guys playing bagpipes (!)

***"Holiday" is the closing song and it is totally NEW.The arrangement is totally different.

***She sings seven songs from 'American Life',not including "Intervention" which she sings as a medley with "Mother And Father".

And did you guys hear about the "pit seats"? These exclusive seats are actually a part of the stage!! Some fans will have the opportunity to win these seats.I think MTV and VH-1 are having a ticket giveaway.Madonna called MTV's TRL yesterday and discussed the tour, describing it as "an assault on the senses".Only a few more days to go.

It sounds cool. But i wonder whether "assault on the senses" is really the best phrase to use. wink It could backfire terribly.

Madonna and her shock tactics are so played out. I thought just maybe she was moving beyond that, but no, she's a fucking bore.

The thing is,understatement is not Madonna's style. If she has a message she wants to convey, she's gonna hit you over the head with it,lol. She doesn't hold nothing back.

She's just getting her excuses in early.

In light of recent events,I'm more concerned about the electric chair execution scene and how it will be received/interpreted by people.

I think they mean that, during rehearsals, she broke down in tears and so they assume that it will be part of every performance? LOL.

No offence, but she can't dance to well can she, and how about her 'acoustic' perfromances on her last tour, what the fuck was the point of that!

Isn't it a bit late 4 a tour of this album now? Should do a new album and tour with that! Oh well....

Anyway, she is a good performer and her shows are different to each other (unlike Mikes and Janets), so I give props on her 4 that one! Proves she treats the fans with some respect!

I totally agree (no offence Davideye). I'm so glad I won't have to sit through this boring spectacle. I have a feeling Madonna doesn't know what to do with herself anymore. She's mid-40's and wants to still be mid-20's. I honestly don't think she has what it takes to keep people truely interested in her anymore. Her voice is so-so and other than these ridiculous shock tactis, what else does she have to offer anymore? She's not a musician and I doubt anyone really wants to see her simulating lesbia sex ill

Other rumors...

***"Dress You Up" and "Bad Girl" have apparently been deleted from the setlist, probably to make room for the "Evita" number and the John Lennon cover.

***Just a few days ago,Madonna was having problems with two of her dancers. It seems that they were having difficulty with the complex choreography for "Hollywood".They had BETTER learn it by opening night,or they are history, the Queen of re-invention reportedly told them.

***Her being "frazzled" in an electric chair

Big fucking deal - Alice Cooper cut his head off in a guillotine onstage in oh...1973

***Simulated steamy lesbian sex as Madonna tangos with a female dancer during "Die Another Day"

Boooring, unless she's eating out Jenna Jamison.

***A parade of scantily-clad pregnant women as she sings "Papa Don't Preach"

YUK!

***Her performance of "American Life" will be a big anti-war statement. The sound of bombs dropping will be linked with onstage video footage of troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Been done already, albeit with a lot more balls; I saw the Jefferson Airplane do this in 1971 with Vietnam images superimposed on Nixon's face with warplanes morphing into dicks flying into his mouth.

***During her performance of John Lennon's "Imagine",she will break down in tears in front of pictures of starving children.

Sounds like a Kathie Lee Gifford approach - when all else fails, exploit pets and small kids.

***While singing "Bedtime Story",Madonna will be seen "rising from the dead".

Like her career? Someone should tell this hag to retire already.

lol

the viciousness towards Madonna cracks me up.

These reports are gettin me excited for the show. Lord knows I didn't buy tix to hear her SING since she really can't do that all too well. Madonna's been a spectacle performer for years now. With the prices she charges, I do expect fireworks and electric chairs and nekkid pregnant ladies or whatever. Her shows are just that "shows." With the number of sold-out dates she has, I'd say a number of people continue to enjoy her spectacles...so, keep on Maddy!

I will say, I do hate the staged-tears portion of shows. I hate it when Janet does it, I'll hate it if Madonna does it...

Wow, I thought this thread was just to discuss the latest updates/rumors, etc. for her tour confused
It's funny how so many people who can't stand Madonna always have the time and energy to read and reply to threads with topics on her.
I know, I know, you have the right to your opinion...freedom of speech, bla, bla, bla BUT is it really accomplishing anything by airing your negative opinions on her work in a thread that was only meant to be a vehicle for fans looking forward to her tour to discuss it and have fun speculating???

I actually own a lot of her music, I was a big fan in the 80's.It's just she's been mediocre for about ten years , maybe longer.
