I love the fact he's going independant, and eliminating these fucked up corperations. How many artists are exploited by the Sony's of the world? They make like 5 cents on a CD, and have to tour like dogs to make any money. Then these corperate whores cry foul when people get sick of lacing their pockets for $20.00 a CD. George Micahael, Chaka Kahn, and eventually Prince again all need to band together and form a union or something. Or just pool there resources and put out there own shit. Though getting Crystal Ball was a nightmare...i didn't feel like I was getting as screwed. I'll support the artists..but I will not support these Corperate bastards!!!! Ohhh I am so angry! mad

I've always liked TTD.
From the Hardline to Wildcard.
But I think he suffers from pretense. His stuff sounds a bit forced & self conscious at times.
I remember an interview around the time of his name change. He was asked who his best friend was and he said Sananda. I just couldn't take that seriously.
I think he's a bit obsessed with Prince (none of us would know anything about that, though would we?), and tries to be just as wild & weird. His oddities are just not as creative as Prince, though. Particularly the name change.
Still, I am interested in hearing his new stuff.
He's a talented guy who still deserves a place in pop music.

i actually dont think hes obsessed with prince, and i dont think the name change had any influence from prince! sananda clearly explains the reasons in an interview recently shown on british tv behind the name change!
i think hes his own person and everything he says, writes and does comes from hs own influence!

but certainly he does deserve a top place in the music industry, hes so talented and his music, writing and voice deserve so much more recognition

agreed, but he IS a little pretentious, you must admit. doesn't detract from his music too much though.

i completely agree! i love all of ttd's stuff...especially wildcard and symphony or damn! in my opinion, though, he'll always be the poor man's prince.

Even more than Lenny Kravitz, who is much more derivative than TTD.
Lenny seems to have more of his own identity (mostly because the 60's ended long ago)

He definitely is his own person, but his attempts at being as diverse as Prince don't seem quite as natural as Prince. It seems more self conscious.
