New Juliana Hatfield Album "In Exile Deo"

Juliana's latest album, "In Exile Deo" will be released on May 18th!

I have followed her since the release of "Become What You Are" back in, I think, 1993 when the single "My Sister" came out. She was all over alternative rock radio back then, but quite soon after she released another album which didn't do quite as well, severed ties with her record company and deliberately avoided the limelight, starting her own record company, Zoe Records.

She has continued to produce quality albums such as "Beautiful Creature" and "Bed" and recently released a retrospective "Gold Stars" which included 8 unreleased songs, some of which were from her great unreleased masterpiece (unreleased due to record company squabbles), "God's Foot".

Now's she back with "In Exile Deo"....as her press release states:

"In Exile Deo contains thirteen brand new songs chiefly written and produced by Hatfield herself. Hatfield was joined in the studio by renowned producers David Leonard (Shawn Colvin, Patty Griffin, Avril Lavigne, Prince) and David Way (Sheryl Crow, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Pink) who each contributed their own exceptional talents to In Exile Deo. Leonard co-produced and mixed two of the album’s stand-out tracks, “Jamie’s In Town” and “Sunshine,” and Way mixed five songs on the album including “Get In Line,” “Tourist,” and “Some Rainy Sunday.”

Like her previous albums, In Exile Deo confirms Hatfield’s remarkable ability as a songwriter to create finely crafted pop tunes from her personal experiences and observations. Backed by Peter Adams on keyboards, Josh Lattanzi on bass, and Damon Richardson and Steve Scully on drums, Hatfield’s bittersweet vocals and catchy guitar riffs drive In Exile Deo. String arrangements by Gary Burke on “Forever” and “Tomorrow Never Comes,” and Jill Kurtz’s electric blues harp on “Dirty Dog” help to add new dimensions to Hatfield’s songs."

I've always love Juliana. I got to see her once live in Sydney and it was one of the most memorable performances I have ever seen. She didn't have her band, but didn't need it - just her an an acoustic and her voice was enough. Anyway, for anyone around here who likes her, post your thoughts....this is one album I'll definitely be picking up soon!

P.S. You can hear snippets of the album here: http://www.rounder.com/in...g_id=6589#

The album was "Only Everything" which is an excellent album. I love that song.
