Glitter. It's funnier, though, if you're smashed when you watch it.

Glitter. definitely.
Who's That Girl is a cult classic. Glitter is just from the occult. "Pedro offers you his protection."

Ok, here's some hilariously embarrassing Mariah from the era. Whoever thought any of this was a good idea rides the short bus.
Mariah had to put all of her friends in the movie, so there was Da Brat trying to play "sexy" with predictably amusing results. Fire your makeup man and stylist, Mariah! Here she is fighting with DJ Dice (!!!!). Jenny apparently stole her song, so Mariah tried to trounce her in the ass department. Count the number of clichés in this one shot. ????? This poster just screamed class. Mariah was going for the "simian" look with this flick. [This message was edited Tue Apr 27 13:31:28 2004 by VoicesCarry]

Who's That Girl was just bad. Glitter was so bad it was good, like Showgirls. "She made me glad to be a man"

CinisterCee said: For a movie set in the 80s, I don't feel like they paid enough attention to the hair of the 80s.. what with Mariah's plucked eyebrows and DJ Dice's Melrose Place haircut. Some of the fashion styling was correct. I always thought this as well. You know he would have been a mullet, and she would have totally been rockin "The Claw" bangs. I'm sure that she didn't want to make herself look like a fool (like many did with those hairstyles then ). But with her hair the way it is in the movie, she would have been totally out of style back then. I actually think 'Who's That Girl' is one of Madonna's better movies

Musically:
Glitter is definitley more well done and overall a classic compared 2 .. "Whos That Girl" I mean that lame duck song by Club Nouveau, the "Look Of Love" was horrible..."Can Stop" is dry, I'd say the best on that soundtrack were, "Best Thing Ever" by Scritti (still not one of their best tunes) and "24 Hrs." by Duncan Faure (Which is very very funky and Princey camille-like) (also another underrated overlooked track). Movie wise, Glitter is a much better watch than Whos That Girl, I mean Madonna's horrible acting and that guy she co-starred with was just bad, and the jokes were all dull...i mean wo the hell would have the sense 2 think that either the soundtrack OR the movie was a better experience than Glitter? In the strictest sense, Who's That Girl isn't a Madonna album — it's a soundtrack album to her 1987 comedy, featuring competent but uninspiring dance-pop by Club Nouveau, Scritti Politti, Coati Mundi, Michael Davidson, and Duncan Favre. Madonna has four new tracks on the record, including the number one "Who's That Girl" and the number two "Causing a Commotion." Both of the hits aren't among her finest singles — neither song made her greatest-hits compilation, The Immaculate Collection — making it her weakest album. — Stephen Thomas Erlewine
the AMG review for Glitter was not better, only because they only focused on her depression at the time, they dont even have a take of any song title in the review at all which hardly makes it a 'review' more like a newspaper segment from the Star Editorial Reviews Amazon.com Despite songbird Mariah Carey's emotional troubles during the release of the soundtrack to Glitter, she has never sounded giddier. In keeping with the semiautobiographical flick's 1980s time frame, Glitter mines the rich and rhythmic fields of discofied funk and club-friendly jams, and Carey soars on thumping covers of Indeep's "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" (featuring DJ Clue, Busta Rhymes, and New Jack of the moment Fabolous), and Cherrelle's skittish, synth-soaked love song "Didn't Mean to Turn You On," which in a nice touch, is revisited by its production auteurs Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Also well worth a listen is "All My Life," a sweet and nasty Rick James track that finds Mariah looser than she's ever been; it's on those uptempo jams that Mariah is all sass and sex. Unfortunately, she loses the mood on the by-the-numbers ballads, which slow the party down just as it's getting hot. --Amy Linden (I dont agree on the ballads because they were some of her best). I like "Who's That Girl". It certaintly isn't a great movie but one that I could watch again. It's eighties fun. I saw "Glitter" only once and just made fun of it the entire time. It's not even so bad it's good. I can't even take myself to see it again. So bad!

Should of set glitter in late 80's early 90's when Newjack was everywhere! People would identify with the time period more as music went through a time of transition and Newjack was a positive force and Mariah could of revisited that! Could of done some New Newjack sounding tracks with jam and Lewis as they were one of the pioneers of the genre! The time period in Glitter musically was too average!
Time to make a Newjack movie! "Grafitti bridge" is Newjackish, well maybe, except it's princes version or vision which was great! Who's that girl movie was alright like mariahs! Mariah should of picked a better time period that's all and yes, the fashions, music, vibe that it was set in was not believeable enough! Wasn't even shot like an 80's movie 4 christs sake but anyway, movie wasn't that bad!

would any1 like 2 talk about which soundtrack is better? yeah.. i thought so...more so..who can sing? The "Who's That Girl" soundtrack is better by far. I mean, Glitter has "Loverboy" (one of the worst songs of the past decade) so that about dooms it for me.

I wish Mariah did a Commentary Track for the DVD (before the movie came out, so we can hear how much she thought this was going to be amazing)
