Usher Wow was I really upset when I heard his new album. I kind of like some of his previous songs but this album is pure garbage. Anyone agree?

I think this board is overall pretty anti-Usher. This new album is basically trash IMHO.

I agree. I was just on the Usher-Hate-A-Thon thread yesterday and needless to say, it got pretty grim. I have to say thi sthough, his new single "Burn" sounds like a re-worked version of "U Got It Bad". Theres nothing new to see here . . . . moving right along.

Well, I love Usher. I think he's very charismatic and talented.
I like his honest lyrics -- they are perfect pop in the sense that art that reflects the turmoils of Everyman in a way everyone can relate to ... becomes popular. There's is nothing wrong with that. I think he conveys the heartache of a breakup and the regret of cheating superbly on this album. Also, his music is very energetic. I've heard Usher songs in the past, but this is the first album I bought. I wasn't disappointed. He's maintained his position at the top of the charts for a reason. His album is good. It makes you feel like he's telling your confessions. No easy feat. Based on other threads, however, I know few will agree. (as I said before the only problem I have is the ripping off of the music for Beautiful Ones in Do It to Me). Burn, by the way is exceptional -- for the metaphor alone. To equate the end of a relationship with fire'/consumption is perfect ... since burn not only describes the hurt/pain, but also the act of cleaning away/purifying/getting rid of. I've never heard someone say let's break up by saying let it "burn." Perfect word choice. And the entire song is moving. [This message was edited Sat May 1 9:35:37 2004 by SynthiaRose]
