my friend taped the showtime special when she was in Miami and brought the tape over. I was anticipating pure torture since I'm not a big Britney fan but it was just one of those things i had to watch to really see perhaps if there's ONE song she does live.

Yes she pretty much lip sync's the whole show but we concluded she sang live at least three songs:

1. "Baby One more time" - i sort of liked the cabaret spin on it but if i was a die-hard fan i'd probably be disapointed not to hear the original version.

2. "Oops I did it Again" - she sang this live but it sounded like she was singing over some jazz station. It was so weird!

3. The other song that she appeared to be singing live was "Everytime." But we argued back and forth on this.

Not sure why I felt the need to post...maybe I was impressed that she sang 3 songs live out of the whole set. That's a step in big direction for her!

And as for 1, well, if she's gonna sing something live, I seriously doubt it would be anything other than an album version - you think Britney's gonna learn a whole new cabaret version of the song ? Doubt it. Sounds suspiciously like a prerecorded vocal track, but I'm gonna trust you on this one. On the other hand, all critics I've read claim she mimes the whole thing.

It was horrible.

That Onyx Hotel shit was fuckin terrible.

Britney was kinda good-looking but she obviously can't sing for shit. The stuff that was actually live was very weak.

i think she did shadow live too

sorry, purplegypsy, you know i love you but...

we are all aware that britney lip synchs. why does everyone feel the need to point it out over and over again? those of us who actually like her and enjoy watching her performances obviously don't care that she isn't singing live. the question is, for those of you who don't like her, why do you keep focusing on it? i mean, i don't watch or listen to people that i don't like...

i do not hate madonna. the fact is, i quite like her. that does not mean, however, i like everything she's done. the only cds i listen to...barring the occasional exception...are LAP, erotica, ROL, and AL.

i think madonna is an entertainer. nothing more, nothing less. i've always tried to make that clear. i feel the same way about britney. so, since i am entertained by madonna (and britney), i do pay attention to what she does.

i am trying desperately to NOT go to the madonna show. i am praying that someone will buy these tickets. i don't want to go back to la so soon. i'd rather go to new york and visit purplgypsy. besides, if i wanted to see madonna i would have just purchased tickets for one of the 4 chicago shows. i will, possibly, check out the britney show.

She, and other artists that lip synch, tend to sing their ballads. Was "Everytime" her only ballad on this tour (I didn't see the showtime thing or her live so I don't know the tracklisting).

BTW, I just bought the live Beyonce DVD/CD and watched skipped around and saw some of it.
Now she doesn't lip synch but a DJ pretty much plays the record while she hardly tries to sing the chorus sometimes. This is nothing really new with her. I realize that when the songs are uptempo you can't sing ever word or note, but I mean watch this! They'll play an entire chorus and she'll do a little pissing and moaning here and there and then she just screams"Wembley" during "Naughty Girl". She even makes a point of saying it was a bad thing that Destiny's Child is famous for "fast singing". Credit where credit is due, she sings her ballads all the way through and rocked "Work It Out". Other than that, there just wasn't much to the preformances but I didn't watch the whole thing.

i saw bits if this show too...but its the rehearsal thay were showing.....ya know....when the MTV cameras are there and all

she was hardly dancing on this show...i can assure you in concert she never stopped
