It's not fact. Manson can sing and play a few instruments. Just because he doesn't have an R&B voice, doesn't mean he can't sing. He can do stuff with his voice that Prince can't do. It's HIS thing.


He may be writing some great lyrics... but that's not enough for someone who wants to be a real musician....
So comparing Prince and MM doesn't make any sense.....

Sure it does. Back in Prince's early days he was seen as just a shock star and nothing more. The fans knew different of course, as they do now with Manson. If you don't like him, fine. But he does have talent. And that's a fact.

Seems that you don't understand that there's noting originalabout these albums.Go listen to Bowie and Alice Cooper--Imean REALLY listen--and then go back to MM--hopefully u'll see things a little more clearly.

Once agin you're having comprehension problems.If you actually read what I wrote above,you'd see that I never said that Prince didn't use "shock value" to promote his image.The point is Prince didn't rely on just shock value--thatw as just the icing on the cake--unlike MM.

And Im not judging on his image (although i think he looks like a Boy George clone which failed somewhere ) , i only said he had succes because of that, and not because of his musical skills!!!!!

Again, I don't agree at all. I think he is a great lyricist. As someone already pointed out, there is a whole lot of humour, cynicism and irony in his lyrics, and I think THAT more than anything, is where his true skills lie. I also don't agree that his image is the only thing that gave him his success. I think it probably repelled as many people as it brought in. I certainly had no interest in him at first. It wasn't until I heard his music that I really started to dig what he was about.

Also, harping on this whole "shock value" crap is dumb. Manson isn't trying to shock people anymore. That's why he wrote the lyrics, "Everything has been said before, nothing left to say anymore." He knows his days of being shocking are done, but he's just expressing himself the way he wants. I don't think many of you have been paying attention to what he's been up to. I know you don't care to, but maybe pay a little more attention before you make assumptions.

Marilyn Manson has to be one of the most unique and most talented artists that has ever emerged on the music scene. I can appreciate the fact that some people may find his lyrics to be offensive (which all depends on your religion) but the man freely exercises his right to freedom of speech in his music and says what is exactly on his mind, for that alone the man should be commended, all this in a society where if one farts you have to be careful who you may offend or what P.C. rule you are breaking.

People should understand that Manson is one hard working motherfucker. He's been busy since the early 90's and he hasn't stopped. He's making an honest living doing what he loves. I think that's what we all want.
